For those of us on the other side of the ocean, Nipper is known as the RCA dog. RCA bought the rights for North America and up until 5 minutes ago, I never knew the real story or his HMV connection. Thanks for this.

I’m a huge fan of Nipper. I’m traveling to London this summer and one of my goals is to get to his final resting place and have a photo taken of me with the placque.
@Stuart_George3 жыл бұрын
It's quite hard to find. It's also quite a ways outside of London itself. Hope you reach your goal.👍

@@Stuart_George I read that this branch of Lloyd’s Bank at Kingston Upon Thames was built above Nipper’s burial site and that there is a plaque inside the lobby of the bank that commemorates the burial place of Nipper. Do you know if that’s true?
@Stuart_George3 жыл бұрын
@@phylliskates8352 The plaque is now out the rear of the bank, in a car park/courtyard. That is what you see in my video. I'm not even sure the employees in the bank would even know it's there anymore, as it's been in it's current position for a few years now. I'm sure if you went in the bank, they would tell you how to get to the rear car park, and you should be able to locate the plaque using my video. (There used to a rear exit/entrance from the bank direct to the car park/courtyard, but I have no idea if it's still in use).

@@Stuart_George I watched your video and I must say I was saddened to see the condition of that area. It seems like a very lowly location to commemorate an icon such as Nipper. But, then again I may be one of very few who find his history fascinating. I live in the United States and I’m in my late 60s and I would bet that most people my age only know of Nipper, in fact they probably don’t even know his name or that he was a real dog) from the image being connected with RCA Victor. They have no idea that RCA Victor came into the picture decades after The Gramophone Company acquired the rights to the painting and the “His Master”s Voice” trademark. See, I told you I was a Nipper nut!!

You might like this then. Not Nipper, but sort of related..... kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4itdpWYjLuiqdk You're interest made me research a bit more, and I must admit I didn't realise that HMV was 'handed down' the logo through the different subsidiaries of the original 'Gramaphone Company'.

I do enjoy your vids, although to be TOTALLY honest, the one's which FAIL the audit are FAR more enjoyable 😆😆😆😆
@Stuart_George5 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the honesty. I don't think you're the only one who feels like that.😀 Personally, I hope for a pass, but I know a fail always make for more interesting viewing. I just go and do my thing, and record what happens. I won't try and encorage a response from people, just to make more interesting viewing though. It seem a few people out there (largely in the USA) are doing exactly that.

Have you also noticed as I have on other people's KZbin channels, if you leave a comment saying how much you HATE the police and slag them off to the 9's, that your comment will get LOADS, of likes.. ...however, if you try to give a "fair" comment, you get hardly any likes, it's a sad world we live in why are the MAJORITY of KZbinrs anti-police ?????

How did he get his name? 😂
@Stuart_George5 жыл бұрын
Nipper the dog was born in Bristol in Gloucester, England in 1884 and so named because of his tendency to nip the backs of visitors' legs. Hope this helps. He was a mongrel, but obviously had a lot of terrier in him.
@BritishBoy19715 жыл бұрын
@@Stuart_George I've met a lot of Terriers. Well..., sniffed a few. 🐕🐩 😂

@@BritishBoy1971 Used to have a mongrel myself. Cross of Rhodesian ridgeback and a staffy. Love ridgebacks. Very loyal dogs. I like Vislas and Weimaraners too. I know Rotties are pretty loyal, loving pets too. In the right hands they make a great family dog too. Will protect any kids to the end.

God bless Nipper.....but surely the plaque was 'unveiled'? I think the message was originally meant for a stone.
@Stuart_George5 жыл бұрын
Never considered that, but you are right. Not sure how you 'lay' a plaque that is screwed to a wall.!!!😀
