@@sakurasys Anne of Green Gables. It was produced in Canada in 1985. It follows the original novel very faithfully. The sequel is titled Anne of Avonlea, but was also marketed as Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel in the states and elsewhere outside of Canada. The sequel is based on Anne of Avonlea, Anne of the Island and Anne of Windy Poplars. The third movie in the series is titled Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story and is almost a complete departure from the remaining two novels in which Anne is a main character (Anne's House of Dreams and Anne of Ingleside), although it clearly draws inspiration from Rilla of Ingleside, which focuses on Anne's youngest daughter (set during the time of WWI). After Anne of Ingleside, Montgomery wrote Rainbow Valley and Rilla of Ingleside. In each of these novels Anne makes appearances, although she is not a main character.

If true love could exist when people sacrificed their own children, killed people for their looks, and became lazy cows then I'm pretty sure it exists now. I can see true love when I look at couples who have spent their entire lives in love. 80 years of being in love is no small thing. And anyway, who hurt you? You should get therapy if you really believe nothing pure exists. I'm not trying to insult you when I say that there is hope out there. It's OK to struggle and there are plenty of people waiting to help you. Good luck.

I only liked the first two movies because the second 2 were nothing like the books. I adore, Rilla of Ingleside. The second two were a mash up of three different books. The third part bears no relation to the books at all - to watch that you have to really set it aside and just go with it for what it is. (Insane to put them in WW1 when it was their children fighting that.)

I remember walking into the room where he was watching this show with my mom and I asked him the question "was it really like this?" (he was born in 1910 in rural Ontario). Then we'd be seen as weak, corny and not manly enough. Trust us, I've seen assholes who secretly wanted to be like this with their ladies. But it's "different" in real life to society, and we're not expected to be classic gentlemen. That's where the toxic male is born. Yes, it's partially their fault for not sticking to any goodness they had left, but expectations from people (especially in judgemental America) is also to blame.

Well, if being romantic and gentlemanly risks being seen as not manly enough, then I suppose I'll be happy to not be a man after all. That's OK. I can live with that. If being a 'real man' means not being compassionate, kind, loyal and loving, then I'm quite content not being a real man.

I absolutely loved this version. To me, Megan Follows will always be Anne of Green Gables.

I love Gilbert and Anne so much ❤they’re the best childhood enemies to lovers I’ve ever seen. They’re so cute, and they remind me of Luke and Lorelai. They always have cute little bickering fights.
