Great job. Just how many others were involved in the project (other than Ed and Brian)? Will be interesting to see trains finally moving across the layout. I may have asked but what era is he running (I.e., steam, early diesel, 60’s, modern.....)? Question, did you build the mine structure with the orange (rust?) siding? Was that a head frame in the middle of it?

Brian is the layout owner, and he built most of the structures. James owns the construction company. I think all of his employees had a hand in it at one time or another (I met most of them). Then there was me. James called me out of the blue and offered me a job shortly after construction began. Brian buys and runs whatever period takes his fancy. He has geared steamers, the latest diesels, and just about everything in between. No I didn't build the rust-colored structure. That is one of Brian's, as are the small shed next to it and the tall structure behind it.

mpeterll - I was just asking as it looks a bit out of scale compared to your true HO scale buildings, i.e. the work shop as well as the homes that are across the tracks. It almost looks like a “N” scale structure. I haven’t built anything for a layout now for almost 40 years but I’ve been building scale models for years in general for work and personal use and it just doesn’t look right sitting next to your buildings. However, I found many kit buildings that I know were sold as HO scale that either looked too big or too small when placed next to other “HO” structures and/or vehicles. I guess it is a matter of placement and perspective. Either way, the layout in general looks great and your talents was able to tie in sections that would have otherwise stuck out like a sore thumb. I will look forward to seeing the whole layout in action soon.

I saw a video with Brian talking about the company who built it, Affordable Model Railroads, and as much as you said he keeps complimenting you it is curious, he never mentioned you in the other video, also curious that the guy who hired you has never left any comments on this site....Don't get me wrong, I think the work shown on this site is fantastic, but maybe you didn't do as much of it as you said you did. I did notice virtually all of the videos were taken when no one else was around. I also find it curious that you never showed any video footage or pictures what I believe is the signature scene on the layout which is a simply gorgeous canyon with perfect rocky mountain cliffs, a lake and 3 tier waterfall with a wood trestle that looks to be about 6 feet long and 2 feet high.....maybe you didn't show it because you didn't do it or maybe cause it is slightly better than your work.

Thank-you for your feedback. You're right, Brian didn't mention me during the interview. He was asked not to. It was filmed by James, the owner of Affordable Model Railroads as a testimonial for his company. I was only a sub-contractor for the project. It would be counter-productive for James' company of I was mentioned. Ditto if he were to comment on any of my videos. You're right, virtually all of the videos were filmed when no-one else was around. I filmed them in my own time when I was not "on the clock" being paid by the hour and when I had time to record multiple takes in case I got tongue-tied. There were some exceptions, such as videos that James specifically asked me to film (some clips of which have also appeared on his own websites because I provided him with copies). It's also virtually impossible to narrate a video with other people around. You're wrong about one thing. I did everything I said I did. You're right (again) about the trestle by the door. I didn't build it, nor did I do much work on that scene. I have mentioned that in several of my videos. I showed that scene in the videos that document the layout, but not in the videos that document my work. The scenery in that area doesn't bear close examination, but this is not the place to go into it. You've already commented on another of my videos that it is most unprofessional to criticize coworkers in this way, so I'll stop writing now.
