Honestly one of my favorite parts about the ending is that Jimmy asks for something fairly small for himself, and is happy both his girlfriend and best friend are getting such big rewards for helping him. Such a great protagonist.

I am shocked and awed with amazement by Gary's dialouge. He really sounds like someone who went beyond the edge. I mean his maniacal laugh at 3:35. It says it all, man.

What I love about this character is that they really went all out and made his mental instability the main reason for his villainy. A manic villain confession isn't new, but with Gary they weren't afraid of where it's coming from.

Gary is obviously traumatized by some social crap he went through in the past. The phrase "You would've if I given you the chance" shows it so clearly. He did everything just so he could feel more powerful than the only person who didn't tried to shove him off the world. Gary was an easy fight, because James spent the whole game putting his hand in the dirt, learning to fight with a war veteran(the hobo), at the boxing gym with the preps, fighting on the streets with the Greasers and later with the townies; It wouldn’t make sense if Gary who spent the whole game manipulating people to be a great fighter; But compared to the other NPCs, he actually is pretty tough

I guess the idea is that he wasn't aware of why Gary was tieing him up, and this just confirmed all the crazy stuff Gary'd been doing. I mean, just because Gary _said_ the head still liked him doesn't nessessarily mean he's a reliable source of information at that point.

***** Yeah, Bully isn't exactly the most... tightly woven experience in existence. With stuff like the difference in how the Halloween mission was originally planned and how it ended up.being, it's clear that this game didn't really live up to its full potential. The difference between the original Halloween mission and how it ended up being is, to my mind, the worst offender. The current game does very little to really explain Gary's betrayal, and while the original doesn't explain it, it at least does a far better job in showing how his judgement starts to go rotten. Of course, I also can't really blame the developers, since it seems like this game was really a down-to-the-wire affair. A lot of companies do things way even today, rushing to release games when it's the holiday season instead of keeping them in development longer and improving them. I've heard that some of the original copies of Bully vary subtly as they continued to try and fix little bugs even after the game's release.

I love how Gary served as Jimmy's foil. Yeah, Jimmy can come off as an asshole at times, but it's completely justified since he's just a normal kid in a world surrounded by bullies and psychos alike. Deep down he has good intentions and will stop at nothing to beat some sense into bullies so they can stop picking on those who don't have the physical/mental capabilities of protecting themselves Meanwhile Gary is the titular bully. He's cruel, selfish, petty and physically assaults people simply because it brings him joy. Even when he was on his meds, he was still exactly like that. He will manipulate everybody around him to progress further towards his goals of making the entire school, and presumably the town had it not been for Jimmy's intervention, collapse. He's got no real motivations for it, he just wants to watch the world burn Sorry for my unnecessary essay, this game is underrated as hell and I wish Cockstar didn't cancel the sequel

Also, if you've ever seen the concept art for this game, it looks really really different compared to the characters in the game. I think rockstar had so much more in plan for this game and it's story and wanted to actually make characters deep with solid backstories, personal issues and whatnot but couldn't bring that to fruition due to their short ass development cycles, just like what happened with manhunt.

I feel the best thing about Gary is the fact that he didn't care about what would happen afterwards or the consequences, he just wanted to be able to pull off such an elaborate plan. And the feeling knowing you pulled off a genius plan perfectly was enough for him, even if it meant his eventual Doom. Such a great character and great game.

I generally feel due to the fact that there has been so much time in between now and when the game was made that they should reboot the series with at the same school but a few years after the first 'Bully' was made, however some characters are the same like a few teachers (maybe one of the students are mentioned or seen in town). But after that game, the main character graduates and moves to university and therefore creating the franchise in that path. Perhaps there would be a gap year level/mini game possibility, somewhere exotic? What do you guys think?

Magnus Lyche I would rather see a Bully 2 have a completley new main protagonist. Rockstar confirmed that Bully takes place in the 2006-2007 school year. My headcanon is that after the events of Bully took place, thanks to Jimmy Hopkins, the bullying epidemic at Bullworth Academy died down, people started getting along more, Jocks could be friends with Nerds and vice versa, Prefects treated students with respect, teachers became more competent, and overall Bullworth Academy became a nicer place. Then, in 2010, Jimmy Hopkins and the rest of his graduating class graduated. With Jimmy not there to keep things in check, Bullworth Academy once again became a bully-ridden shithole....Like GTA5, you'll be playing as two characters, a new female student who got enrolled in Bullworth, and a new teacher who wants to do everything in his power to try and save the school and the students he cares about.....
