probably the closest we've been to be Chopinist xD also if you Chopinists are still confused, Liszt's contribution is 3:25 to 4:11

I hadn't listened to this piece in quite a while, so I was wondering when the Liszt bit was, and then 3:25 came and I knew!

i actually dig 3:44 and i think that’s what chopin should’ve done for this sonata haha. however I dont like the texture starting from 3:25 to 3:43 as i find that texture super clunky and i find that the sextuplets with that single tenor line more tumultuous and dramatic for some odd reason. really love the idea at 3:44 though. I like, really hope someone plays it like that!

I love the intensity becomes harder every 3 stages. the 4th stage(ending, C#) is the cherry on top

Quintuplets madness and totally ridiculous left hand leaps, liszt was going real wild there lol

but it fits so nicely lel, and arguably somewhat more pianistic than Chopin's writing here

as far as we know the Muse Press company have published an edition from the same movement including Liszt's variant (which you can find in here: muse-press.com/en/product/mp09201/ ), also the American Liszt Society have published their own edition through one of their journals

the catalogue on Wikipedia is pretty unreliable coz so many Liszt's previously unknown works have been catalogued since... also this was, afaik, only published recently by Muse Press: muse-press.com/en/product/mp09201/

Is this why chopin was mad
@Liszthesis10 ай бұрын
Chopin was allegedly mad about Liszt's extemporaneous embellishments for one of his Nocturnes, not this piece. Also I don't think Chopin would have been mad about this faithful and more pianistic (if not necessarily better!) retranscription.

what do you expect lul Chopin would have been very displeased were Liszt to further embellish this piece with his typical treatment (for the operatic fantasies for example)
