Thanks a lot sir, but can u please clarify in Q.11 Stock Lending Scheme 44:45, for the borrower of shares (i.e ABC Ltd) dividend has to be considered as an expense right? Because ABC Ltd would have made short sale of borrowed shares and the dividend would have been received by Third Party. So practically ABC Ltd has to pay such dividend to Mr.A (Lender)

ABC ltd didn't own shares. Hence they have borrowed shares from Mr.A in order to short sell them, which means MR.A is still the owner of shares which also means Mr.A will be the receipient of the dividend and hence it wont be the cost of ABC ltd.

@@pr4yas No bro, when ABC Ltd short sell it how can Mr.A still be the owner, Shares will be bought by third party, so technically Mr.A has lost the dividend, so that is the reason ABC Ltd needs to pay Mr.A the dividend, so it will be income for Mr.A and Expense for ABC Ltd. (The same has been clarified by my faculty). ICAI solution is wrong, we need to make a note!

@@Jayamma-m4o Sorry, Your faculty is wrong because short sell is different than actual sale here in short sell no actual delivery of shares take place that means share are not transferred to other person it is just a contract to sale not an actual sale hence Mr. A would retain the ownership. This concept has been explained by icai in derivative chapter refer to it.
