Central Valley can have that kind of rolling hilly grassland that’s brown 7 months out of the year in more rain shadowed areas. There’s some abutting the east side of the central coast ranges

26:40 I can’t help but remark that in Colo the East west divide is really important- you can see the area west of the mountains is quite lush almost all the way up the the Caribbean, catching South Pacific trade winds, with the mountains rain-shadowing the north lowlands and especially the Colombian-Venezuelan dry llanos; you have to go quite a bit further south on the east side before you get into the Amazon influenced by the Atlantic easterly trades; and in the intermontane valley it can be a bit of a grab bag with a more pronounced n-s moisture gradient and overall relatively lush but not as much as the pacific or Amazon regions, with some allowances made for altitude and being very close to rain-shadowing mountains.
