Good tips Ray, even this old fart learned a couple new ideas! What poles do you use? I use a pair of Lleki Makalu Lite aluminum trekking poles.

Lately I’ve been using a set of Cascades that I picked up off of Amazon. They’ve held up pretty well. I’ve figured out the features I prefer but haven’t really settled in yet on a brand that I prefer yet.

@@Hike-ALOT I've been using these Leki poles for a couple of years. They were highly rated, especially for durability. And having aluminum tubing, I can attest to their strength Another benefit for using trekking poles is when hunting they work well as a Improvised rifle rest.
