There are a couple of phones with Bullitt satellite capability built in, I bough Ulefone Armor 23 Ultra for about $340 - OK for a rugged phone. Same app, works the same way as the Defy, just built in the phone instead of a separate module. Working fine as of May 2024. I got an email from Bullitt that they had been acquired by another company, RCD 2023 Limited, and the service continues.

I've been using the $15 Stanley Cook Pot for years with my Grayl. You have to leave the Stanley's plastic cups behind, but the Stanley with the Grayl inside will fit into one of WalMart's $5 Stainless Steel Cups, and as a bonus the Stanley lid will fit the cup. Add a Hot Lips heat shield (2 for $6) to the cup if you're a "softie" like I am. I'm cheap, $23 bucks beats out Pathfinder's $50 for me.

Oh they are definitely down there. It’s actually the only place I’ve pulled the trifecta in one trip - rattle snake, cotton mouth, and copperhead in one afternoon. I try to keep the pooch on a shorter leash and watch my step.

It would be nice if it would last longer than 3 weeks. I wanted to monitor high and low temps in my greenhouse and the other day it said at night it went down to 31 degrees and I KNOW it wasn't any colder than the mid 50s. I took the battery out and checked it with a battery tester and the battery is still good. Hopefully by taking the battery out for a little while before reinserting it will reset it (and fix it).

I would add a small foldable solar panel to your kit (unless you already have one in the truck). I have made sure that all my electronic devices have rechargable batteries built into them and that they all charge via USB. I keep a decent powerbank and a foldable 40w solar panel so I can be sure that I will have lights and means of communicating for days if shit hits the fan

You should include some water purification tablets and a water bag. They are super light, not very bulky and are a good back up for your filter. A fire isn't always an option. This is basically the same as my emergency kit except, I keep my Leatherman sidekick in the bag, a better knife, a silky pocketboy, a signal mirror, bear mace, a pocket fishing kit, wool hat, spare socks, warm clothes, sun screen, coffee and about 2 lbs of food (oatmeal, self-raising flour, salt, dried beans, instant mashed potatoes, bullion cubes, mix of freeze dried vegetables and freeze dried meat). Having been stranded in the woods on 2 occasions (injured once, lost once), food is important for morale and morale is the most important thing for survival. If you give up, nothing will save you.

The moment you attach equipment on the outside of your bag, you need a larger bag. And I would always prefere a “normal” bag. In case you have to walk a long distance, a bag with two straps will be better. But in general a nice collection.

The service is still being ran by the satellite provider (Skylo), but there is no support from Bullitt for account, contract, app or product issues, as there is no-one to provide support.
