Great vlog (as usual). Did you hear that the Hollars were in a wreck and totaled their truck?? Everyone (including the baby) is fine, so that's really what matters. Thought you'd be interested.
@nicklocicero39744 жыл бұрын
Just a thought, you could pour a concrete saddle at the chicken gates that goes about 6 inches deep. Trucks could roll right over it and solves the tunneling issue. You would still need to do something about the gap at the bottom of the gates though.

The chicken run gate...I would half bury a pressure treated piece of wood (2x4?) between the gate posts on the outside of the gate. Then on the inside lower bar of the gate, staple a long strip of heavy rubber (like the cover of the pig mineral bucket) so that it just brushes against the ground when opening and closing the gate. When closed, it should bump up against the wood half buried in the ground to create a solid barrier.

hey Justin i have been watching you for a while now and want to let you know you have inspired me to get some chickens to go with my garden. i have a question for you. i have a silkie chick about 4 weeks old, and all of the sudden it seems to have a problem walking and is unstable. other then that it seems fine. it still moves, somewhat and is eating. have you had this problem before should i separate it from the other chicks?

Justin digout to bury that fencing even along the gate. The boards that are removable attach the fencing to those boards and then screw that board to bottom of gate. Then when you need to open gate remove the few screws and set the board with the fencing attached to the bottom off to the side and you might have to digout a little along the gate to rebury the fencing along the gate. I will now watch the remaining video and see if we came to the same conclusion.

fields look pretty good, just replant trees - add some chestnuts - research best blight resistant, take out some more trees on edges of fields to get more sun and you need the wood - just basic woodlot management do like 10 cords - take out all the small trees #darwin

Hahaha the chicks are always the most pain man. I have a chicken who had chicks all chicks were everywhere and I tried gathering them up but they kept running until I got frustrated and I said that's it I'm locking them up in the dog house and they kept trying to get out but I didn't let them out until next day. Lol chicks are the worst but when they grow up they began to just calm down and take a walk then lay down and not get out anywhere else.

That fence is a huge waste of money and wood. Just stretch a 300' roll of field wire and DO NOT put a top rail on the fence. Without a rail to jump onto, chickens will not breach the fence.
