Huge thank you for making me discover this. From someone who primarily plays offline and doesn't have all the time in the world, this will finally let me play builds I could not simply because of the rarity of some items such as Death's Web and anything involving High runes (although through months and months of playing i did build up to an Enigma and an Infinity) the later runes like Jah and Cham are a once (or twice) a year things for me.

I feel you. Here is something I used to do in the old game + hero editor. Use the common trade prices for items and "reward" yourself with the rune equivalent returns. If I found another Titans or a Shako, I would trade it i.e. an IST, at the same time I deleted the item. This way you're still playing fair while making the most of your time. Same goes for finding high runes etc.

Really thankful for this. I played through Normal self found and had a blast, but going into Nightmare was tough for me as I hadn't even crafted any runewords. So I used the editor for an insight pole for my merc, a spirit crystal sword, and a stealth studded leather. Then I edited my boots enhanced defense because I lost alot switching from my old chest piece(I really needed the mana for the hammer build). So all in all I didn't give myself too much of an upper hand, as all the items I got are still available at my level etc. Just booted it up and I'm definetly still able to die lmao. Just needed the edge. Thanks for making this video or I wouldn't have known about this. Been surfing Diablo 4 videos on KZbin lol and found you today!

I did something similar, just improved my Merc's Insight and gave myself a Heart of the Oak, and a few minor things for MF and resistance. The more rare things I prefer to find myself.

Guys, this is brilliant and i'm very pleased to be able to try this out. but I do warn you from my own experiance. Edit sensibly! Allow me to elaborate: I played D2 LoD years ago and i was addicted, loving the slow and hard grind building up my toon, I discovered hero editor one day and I got a bit silly, made my barbarian a bit OP and was smacking mobs down easily on Hell. Practically unkillable and unstopable, suddenly, I had NO aim left, all the gear was inferior to my 'edited' gears and I had ZERO desire to play anymore, because there was no drops to excite me, I literally killed my game just like that! Instantly lost all desire to play! D2 is a great game, make your toons too good and you'll prolly end up how I did, and that's a great shame. Suggestion: edit in some extra gold and craftable mats to create rings etc and gamble, get some nice rare rolls and maybe make copys of your toon to respec and play around with say fire sorc builds, cold sorc etc. Upto you guys, just don't overdo it, you'll regret it trust me!

Happened to me too back in the D2LoD days. Upon making it to Hell difficulty, I found a hero editor and made my Barbarian too OP. I stopped playing the game after 1-2 weeks because of it.

Just joined days ago and my main character file appear to be corrupted after multiple crashes due to repeated "unexpected quit" and "access violation". Glad to find I can get them back. I have no desire to give myself things I didn't actually find in game, and I won't restore a toon lost to death (I only play hc), but I refuse to let Blizzard erase my hardwork due to corrupted files caused by their bad coding. If I had known about the need to constantly backup, and the severity and frequency of crashes and risk of character file corruption I would never have started d2r without already knowing about hero editor.

Ok, I'm lost. I can't get this to work. I am not very good with computers and can't seem to get the char into d2r offline after I have saved it. It just makes a file in the downloads area of my pc and when I go onto d2r the char is still the same as it always was

Some edits to a character can be too "Extreme" and cause the characters not to load. If I knew exactly what you did I could identify the issue. Also make sure you close the game.before putting the save into the directory.

@@GGMentor all ive done is create gear basically identical to my online nova sorc. so the typical infinty, viper, maras, shako, soj, maras, magefist, war travs, cta, spirit, torch, anni, skill gcs, mf scs. didnt even mess with the percentages to make them anything crazy

@@florin-gv5wu You must have a program called “Save Wizard” that allows you to edit saves, or something similar. Use that program to Export the Diablo save as a file to your PC, and then you can use that file to be used in the Hero Editor. Once done with the Hero Editor- import your new save file back into Save Wizard or what not.

At about the 5:50 mark you hit the "save file" button, this is shown in the video. However, what you immediately do after this isn't shown so how you get the altered file into the game is a mystery. What is the next step?

Save location is in your user folder saved games. So C:/users/(your user name)/saved games/diablo II Resurrected

Perhaps you made a change that resulted in the character being deleted? I have on occasion gone to far with some of the crazy stuff I try to do with hero editor. Although I am not as familiar with this program, I assume it's the same. Perhaps revert some of the changes you made and see what is causing the error?

My character information isn't loading. It knows my character file name, but nothing happens after that... edit: I guess it's because it's a character from a mod. Damn. I was just hoping to auto-complete the Ancients quest because the game crashes when the statues become released.

Hello I tried using Diablo 2 resurrected hero editor shown here saved file for character I made hardcore I copied and pasted them to saved games folder for Diablo 2 resurrected I can’t seem to make this work with editing stats making skills to 99 and import anything any tips?

Did you reboot the game after copying the new file in? The correct procedure is #1 Upload save #2 make changes #3 download changed file #4 make sure game is closed #5 copy file into the save directory #6 boot up game and check character If you do this out of order the game can overwrite the save file back with the original before you close out the game

Hi buddy i had a question about the runewizard hero editor i noticed for a paladin i just created i took some items from my stash and edited them and if i load that one its slow and says page is unresponsive and i click to add items adding points to skills not sure why its slow really for that character

Cool tool! I have an online character I would like to copy to offline mode after the ladder. My friends get bored, and it would be great to be able to take advantage of the players 8 command. Don't really want to cheat the fun out of it, but it would be nice not to re farm all my nice gear 😂

@@drewmcfarland88 when you create a new character in game, multiple files are created. The editor only modifies the .d2s file, but the game requires the other files too.

For those having trouble with the character not appearing in the load screen, I found success through using a different browser (Edge). This enabled the download of two files, .key and .ds2. I didnt change any of the file names and kept them as is. The editor generated a .ds2 file with a name based on whether you uploaded an existing file, but the .key file always comes out as "character.key". I didnt change either though. When the browser saved the file, I just copied from the download folder directly to the D2R save folder where the other .ds2 files are located. I did however, delete all the existing data for the specific character before pasting the new files instead of overwriting. Be advised, you will have to rename the file if your computer adds a (x) to the filename where it downloads. D2R will not recognize a file with a (x) within the filename. I also had to restart the game in order for the changes to take effect.

Unfortunately didn't work for me. Tried to even create new characters, but to no avail. Everything worked, and it is a great editor! But no matter what I do, the character vanishes at the load screen. Tried three different browsers, deleted the original files and placed the edited ones ( .D2S and .key ), tried to overwrite them, but couldn't make it work. I'm probably doing something wrong here, but can't seem to find a solution. Too bad. Played all the games years ago, and this one shows that Diablo II is still great!

That would be the modifier for Defense based on character level. That is what gives it the white color.

I tried doing it PC - worked great, but then as soon as I plug my ssd that I saved the files on into my Xbox, it wants to wipe the drive clean and format it to be used only on Xbox consoles… would really love to try out some builds in single player on xbox, but i cant figure it out😢

This bricked my d2r game. As soon as I tried this, my game started crashing my pc. I've uninstalled 3 times and reinstalled , deleted the data files, and everything. Nothing works, and my game is bricked. It worked fine right before this. I am at a loss now

You are probably doing something wrong then. Upload file, edit file, download file, replace old file with new file. Make sure the old file isn't in the folder. Make sure the new file doesn't get renamed to something new like "Save(1)".ds2 Make sure the save file is in the actual save directory. Make sure the game is closed when you swap the save files. If the game is open it will not work. Because the game will overwrite the new save file with the old one. Don't make ridiculous changes that the game can't handle. Some changes will result in things reverting or disappearing.
