I think Mick said on TPS that Great Eastern are almost doing themselves a disservice with the name of this pedal. With a high headroom amp, in the room you keep the headroom feel and get that lovely blend of drive and clean tone - as you mentioned in the video. Works as a boost, an always-on pedal that makes a quiet clean amp sound like it’s cranked (how I’ve been using it at home with a Two Rock Trad Clean), and then as a nice 70s rock sound (Alright Now etc). So in this case, it does MORE than it says on the tin! Enjoyed the vid as always.

Wow. The first overdrive pedal in a very long time, that I'm interested in buying. This pedal sounds great to me. I'll have to go in search of where i can buy it. Thanks for an excellent demo Paul.

@@TheStudioRats Thanks Paul. I just did. It looks like NZ$387 including shipping. A little dearer than i hoped for. That's typical when i find a pedal i like 😁 Cheers, Grant in New Zealand.

This is a phenomenal pedal to get overdriven tweed sound. Old Stones stuff. It is great for Frusciante stuff too. Love this pedal.

Youre right about the dynamics, the right pedal can put a great feel under the fingers and really open up your playing, and inspire you. Not sure why! But set right they just make the guitar feel better

If it's good enough for Chris Buck it's good enough for me. Also sounds like a great pedal to get an edge of break up sound to throw a fuzz on top have you tried that with this I'd like to know??

I wonder how this compares with a JHS morning glory. I know they are different circuits, but it would be interesting to hear a side-by-side comparison.

i think what allot of people are missing is, this is not a pedal emulating a fender champ, but emulating a fender champ after the mic and out of the console sound,witch in opinion sounds better than the small speaker pedals ive owned they tend to get flubby at higher gain and volume.

Great video as always Rats! My non-related question: if I were to add an X6 to my Twin X Duo, there's still only a finite amout of plugins I can have on one dsp chip isn't there? I'm probably living in denial but I want a set-up where DSP limitations is never an issue. It's a bit of a con that a satelite can only be allocated dsp for mixing. Us trackers who love to load up a single chain soon have to compromise. Rant over :)
@TheStudioRats2 жыл бұрын
Hi Pet, yes 1 chip can only hold so much dsp and as far as I know will not split a plugins dsp over multiple chips. Although I’m confused why you’d need more than a quad for tracking unless you are either tracking a good bunch of instruments at the same time or have an unnecessary amount of plugins on a single channel, this might be worth having a chat about. if you want to contact me directly on the website I’d be happy to help. P
@petmoxey21772 жыл бұрын
@@TheStudioRats I've only got a duo. A quad would have been better in hindsight. It's possible i'm tracking with too much. I'll go through it in the next chat. Enjoy your wknd lads

Hi Paul, what's it like for compressing the signal as the gain is wound up?
@TheStudioRats2 жыл бұрын
To me everything gets more compressed as you turn the gain up. But this pedal doesn’t get too gainy so the compression isn’t that dominant

Looks like a nice pedal and sounds great... But hearing reverb in every demo of every pedal on the Toob really throws me off... I'd rather hear the "clean" amp REALLY CLEAN. Thanks again for the extensive overview. Cheers!
@MatsDagerlind2 жыл бұрын
That pedal sounds really really good. But I would guess it is very dependant on what amp you plug it into, and Mr WhatsHisName above doesn't let us know. Also it would be nice to know if the tele pickups are standard or hot, cause that could also make a big difference.
@k89232 жыл бұрын
I think they designed this for you, Paul. Creates that edge of breakup that you are always shooting for, but seems to do it at a lower volume. More controlled. Sounds perfect with the tele. How is it with the LP or the PT?

This one was a bit of a head-scratcher to me when it came out. I think most people by far are always trying to find ways to make their small boxy home amps sound like full stacks, not the other way around. Don’t get me wrong, I know the appeal of that sound for studio work; I just feel like most people probably have an actual small amp sitting around the house. But at least this isn’t nearly as ridiculous as that new pedal that’s supposed to sound like a tiny solid state beginner Peavey amp that some guy used on an album. I mean, the pedal is like $350, and you can just buy a little Peavey for less than $100. 🤷🏼
