The Matriarch is so much more worth the money in terms of features and capabilities compared to the ridiculously overpriced Minimoog Model D, that’s for sure. It’s a really fun instrument to experiment and play with, you can get some insane sounds out of it. I’m so glad I have one.

Outstanding video! You really get what the Matriarch is all about. I have had one for a couple of years and every time I sit down to it (which is daily) I am both amazed and pleased with its capabilities. And I really liked how you demonstrated how well it plays with others. This feature allows me to use the Matriarch to tie my studio together into an "orchestra" of synths. It is sublime! I think the Sound Studio was the one I had more fun with, which was surprising as I was dying for a proper go on the Matriarch. Perhaps the Sound Studio is just that bit more unconventional. I could jam with it for days.

Crikey! How did I miss this gem Alex? Let's see... Moog and Roland analog modular, and some creative Alex Ball compositions.... instant must watch!! 😁 Funny how this came up for me right now too. I'm literally, at this moment, putting together a portable rig that will double as a live performance rig and an expansion to my studio modular. This portable rig contains my M32, System 500, System 1m, Keystep Pro, Launchpad Pro, RME Fireface UFX and my laptop with Pianoteq 8 Pro, REAPER and a few other VSTi's, my Yamaha NP31 and Korg Wavestate. I just took a break for a meal and watched this awesome creation from you Alex. Great stuff my friend!!

Fantastic synth, the Matriarch. There are free software editors available, which can be used via USB to change the settings and avoid the clunky keyboard combinations. They work very well. Moog should definitely release their own editor anyway. Great video, as usual. Thanks!!

Great video as always ! The Subharmonicon way of working can be achieved easily with "West Coast" style modules such as Maths / Clock Dividers ect. It's actualy one of my favorite technic to write "proper" melodies with super weird instruments such as my Serge system.

@@AlexBallMusic both actually, most of the « function generator » type modules (such as the Buchla 281 and Serge DUSG) do not retrigger until they have completed a part of their cycle, wich let you divide frequency, audio rate or not ;-) I’ll make a video about it to show you !

I actually pinned a comment on the last Light Music guide as they were taking too long to research and weren't getting much interest, probably because they're a bit niche. So basically, I abandoned the series about 3 years ago and have no plans to start it back up. Hopefully the few I did were useful.
