No doubt Zhiyun is doing cool stuff with their lights! But not comparible to the quality of light and build you are getting here. Also don't let the "80" fool you. It gives 19850 lux at 1m at 5600K. The Molus 300 for example does 15500 lux in normal or 20300 lux in high power.

It can be set to Studio mode which means the light will automatically turn on when it is plugged into a power outlet. So yes this will work with this light.

I see a few comments comparing this light with cheaper fixtures from Zhiyun and amaran. These are not good comparisons. The 80c isn’t designed to be used as a key light for talking head KZbin videos. I use a Forza 60c, which is the direct competition to this light, and that thing lives in either a fresnel or spotlight attachment. I don’t think I’ve used the included bowens adapter even once. If you want to throw an edge light on your talent from 20 feet away, you’re going to have a hard time doing that with a molus G300 or a 300c with the reflector.

@@MajdalAlyouss both these numbers are the lights with reflector as I found it on their websites. I have nothing to gain with any of these lights. Quoted from Zhiyun website "The illuminance value is obtained by testing at 100% brightness with the ZHIYUN standard reflector at a distance of 1m."

@@mitchgross592 Thanks for the answer. Does it also support charging via USB-C or is it just for firmware updates?
@mitchgross59228 күн бұрын
@@epuri Well, not “charging” per se as there’s no internal battery in the STORM 80c, however YES you can power the light via the USB-C port. Note that this requires a 100w power bank (20amps at 5v), so you need a decently powerful USB battery. And also yes, the USB-C is also how you can load firmware updates.
@EffectiveCommunications11 күн бұрын
The globe does not soften the shadows. It diffuses the light. Those are two different qualities. Softness is defined by relative size of light to subject. Diffusion is the spreading of light particles which can reduce hotspots.

It's about build quality, durability and consistency of light. Folks who work in harsh environments or with crews where day-call techs can trash gear hauling it in and out of the truck need those features. That IPX rating alone is a huge selling point. For one-man-band shooters this is probably overkill but still, there is a lot to be said for being able to trust that your investment is still providing returns years down the road.
@CinegavoАй бұрын
You definitely will not see an Amaran version of this, probably ever. This chip will stay Aputure only. And the price is good, coming from a Nanlite 60c owner... This is cheaper, more output, fuller spectrum, better control with new modes and crmx, plus its ip rated, which the Forza 60c is none of the above, but it was more expensive when it came out@@davido9450
@johnnycashlesscomedy8616Ай бұрын
@@NeilEvery Sure that makes perfect sense, especially being weatherproof. I'm a small production company and don't rent my gear out, so the lighter duty of the Amaran series is fine for me. The other issue is that the 80C seems to have a lot more light output at the COB but with the narrow reflector it has less output than the 60Xs. With no modifier it's 288 lux for the 60XS vs 704 lux for the 80C (3 M - 5600K) with the reflector - 1877 lux for the 80C vs. 3510 for the 60XS. maybe @mitchgross592 www.youtube.com/@mitchgross592 can clarify.
