my camper came with a boosted antenna that picks up channels everywhere I have been. Even some fairly remote sites in Utah and New Mexico. When I am near a major city I can pick up over 100 channels. Sometimes I do need to rotate the antenna to get better reception.

Looks like a nice product. I think I like that it doesn't mount to the roof of the RV. I bought two brand new RVs in my life and both of them, the TV antenna which I honestly never use has leaked LOL. thanks for the video.

Just think how many more channels you get if you mounted on the roof of your RV a little higher up a little bit more clearance just my thought.

I've not even really considered a HDTV antenna for our RV thinking we'd never get signal at a campground. I'd only thought about satellite as we have DirecTV at home. And spending $600 or more for a satellite antenna when we only go out now and then isn't a great investment in my opinion. This antenna is actually very affordable considering what you get. Especially if the park you are at has sub-par WiFi and you're not able to stream videos or movies, this would be a great way to be able to watch all kinds of programs if the weather is keeping you inside. Thanks for this awesome video!

Get yourself down to the Dollar store and get what I call a pigtail. It's just a little powerbar. 3 sockets and only a foot of cord. Greatest damn things for tight spaces and wall warts. Buy a few and have them handy. They're great for plugging many devices into a ups.

It looks like a great product. My concern is how well it handled windy conditions. I have found these flimsy tripods blow over easily. My good camera tripods have a weight hook on them to place weight. (I use water bags.)

Get a 1/2" steel plate and place a piece of rubber or cloth on the bottom of the steel plate and mount the magnetic part of the antenna, place it on top of your camper.that way the wind won't blow it over.

Hmm...interesting product. I have not had an issue with getting signal with my built in antenna as of yet. I use an app on my phone called TV Towers which tells me which direction the towers are and I turn my roof mount antenna to the right direction and seems to have been working so far. Seems it may be a bit flimsy if the wind blows to hard, unless there is a way to tie it down.

Did your old setup not have a roof antenna? A lot of people do not realize they will rotate. I am wondering about ditching the whole tripod set up and just mount it to your roof. It would be a lot higher up and avoid a lot of interference.

Cool, now you have to make a designated little cord for the power source. Are most of the campgrounds near cell towers so you can pick up a signal? So are you going to get the Mrs. a Atlas. They had the best review on Velocity. That whole setup looks awesome!

There may be something wrong with the RV antenna on the test rig. I have a 2003 5th wheel and my original amplified Winegard antenna easily gets HDTV 70 miles away. Some of my RV friends have switched the antenna heads to the King Omni or King Jack with good results as well. Why anyone would want a portable TV antenna on a tripod is beyond me. There is a bit of a misnomer concerning HDTV the TV is the HD part and an antenna is just that and will receive any signal that is broadcast. The higher the antenna the better the reception.

Ha. Same setup my wife and I have. 2017 F-450, and a 2016 Navigator. Love them both. My wife saw the 2018 Expedition Max at our state fair, we might look into those when the time comes. But until then... she’s stuck with the Lincoln. Just wanted to say, those bumpers on your truck look amazing.

+Trent Jackson: What’s funny is that she’s had just about every luxury SUV there is. She really wants a Lexus GX or LX but I’m thinking she will hate the swing out rear door. Of all the SUVs we’ve owned, she really liked the 2011 Durango Citadel she had from 2011-2013. She loved the look of her 2013 Infiniti QX80, but it had quite a few technology problems. Who knows what’s next.

The power adapter is likely to inject power to allow it to amplify the signal. Had you put the power inject at the tv it would of still worked on the other tv but there would been more power drawn and the other tv many have seen the power and could be damaged.

Good review, though it would've been nice to see the channel scan results from the other antenna (even though you mentioned it). I'm curious however, why not use this as your permanent antenna and rigid mount it on the roof? Additionally, I wonder if you would've received even more channels if you had put the tripod on the roof. :)

Why not use the stock TV antenna that came with your trailer? (Not the flexible one, the one already mounted on the roof?). Just make sure the booster is turned on at the coax wall plate (tiny little button). There is no such thing as a HDTV antenna... VHF and UHF frequencies are still the same just digital versus analog. However if your trailer antenna only has a basic VHF, that might explain it. If you have a wineguard just add the Wingman to get more UHF reception. Note it’s a common issue with Travel trailers where people don’t realize there is a booster for the roof antenna and they don’t get any channels until it is turned on.

I’m surprised you bought that rig with 3 TV’s and it didn’t come with a decent HDMI antenna to bring in a signal. It looks wired for all TVs per your video so what’s on the roof of the RV? Guess you should mount that King antenna on top next.

Hey JD? (I think that's right) anyway I've got a darn near twin Chaparral to yours. I'm having trouble getting my tailgater (dish) to connect. If I bypass all my cable hook up and go directly to the receiver it works. In my water compartment is 5! Places to connect cable. They're marked satellite living room, bedroom etc..... Two each. Then one says cable TV. Those all are labeled. Inside there is two, one goes to the booster an one not. Nothing labeled inside. Any ideas? If you read this. John in Tucson

Was your cheapie antenna boosted like the one you tested? My cheapie is boosted and does ok. Hard to know without testing. If you didn't plug your cheapie into an outlet, it wasn't boosted. If not, not a fair comparison. Also you can't just put that white thing anywhere. It is rather directional. Not knocking the one you tested and for heaven sake tell us the retail price.
