It seems like that is the way their parents raised them to be. Plus she isn't near their parents. So when she had out her wisdom teeth she needed his help. My sibling has some severe mental health issues so I can't really count on mine. But I know I'm their for my brother 100%. He lives with me in my family home. I make Doctors appointments I take him to Doctors appointments, I make sure he is on his meds, I cook and clean for him. Our parents have both passed on. So we had a few choices. He could either go live with our only Uncle who is old and who doesn't really understand how to deal with him. He could go into a group home or live with me and my family. I realize Morgan is a healthy normal person. But Ryland was there when she needs him most. I'm proud of Morgan for asking for help and for accepting it from him.

That was my first thought too. I knew a girl who did similar things when we were very young and she ended up having a lot of issues and dying when we were teens because she was trying to self medicate her trauma. I never told my mom, I was just really uncomfortable and too young to process what happened. I didn't realize what happened until we were 16 or 17 and her Dad came to the school and it created a chaos situation with the cops and a lock down because she had a restraining order and we basically all found out at once that she was going through a court case to deal with what her Dad had done to her. That experience changed how I talked to my own kids. They know behavior like that isn't normal and to talk to me if they ever feel uncomfortable. I hope she, wherever she is, knows I care to change the way I communicate with my kids so if this is happening to another kid we could potentially help catch it and end it. I actually think about her a lot as an adult, because she really was a preventable tragedy that was a symptom of the why communication and warnings were done 35 years ago between parents and kids.

Or it could just be child curiosity. Kids do stupid stuff all the time at that age. I've seen a little girl go hide in the garage to play with themselves. I walked in on her doing it. I had a 5 yr old girl expose herself to me when I was 5. I had another little girl want to play "house" and have mom and dad kiss. She was mom and I was dad. Kids are just curious about everything at that age.
