Vlip was excellent to me and I got two good pieces that’s moved my system forward a lot. Opened my eyes to preamps. Tried to get a streamer but ended up with a different approach. Not without confirming that the U2 Mini is excellent. Just a little rich for me. In the end I heard the reason Vlip left and it is a shame he and Adrian had employee and employer conflicts. Andrian has been good to me even though I never bought directly from him. Always his staff John (RiP) and now Vlip. I would love to bump into Vlip and thank him for the piece he sold me. Great preamp

Great explanation about them being the decathletes of the speaker world. The one thing I would add which is extremely personal and that’s tone. I just love the tone of the Sonus Fabers. I’ve always wondered do the phono stages get better as you go up in model price and also good cartridge matches for the units that have fixed MM stages. I would also love to hear more about how the Integrated Amps perform as a Pre-amp, my dream is an MA 8950 and a MC275 to heat up my condo in the wintertime😂. Adrian, one reason people asking about CeCi is that many people don't know what a Co-op is, and you should explain that in a little more detail.
A Co-op is usually where a student taking a particular course at a post-secondary school works at a business to get experience in the particular field that they are going to school for. It's like on-the-job training while they are still enrolled in school. The Co-op term usually only lasts for a few months (the length of the term is prescribed by their course requirements). I work for a large construction company that usually has at least 2 Co-op students around the office at any time.

October 6 I visited Bay Bloor Radio for a quick yet very focused listening experience with the Sonus Faber Lumina ii bookshelf speakers. Through a series of 3 songs served by Tidal; I would like to offer the following observations. Bright Techno music- The bass response began strong, hard and rather well suited to punchy effect. Once the bass began to drop lower, The Lumina ii' speakers showed a clear sign of dynamic limitation with lots of distortion. Next I listened to one fast-moving, detailed instrumental piece. A mostly harmonious experience that produced clarity and rather accurate presence of all string instruments with good percussionist performance. Aspects I felt lacking in the Lumina ii’s performance comes from their low frequency bottleneck effect, hence the slapping wood sound. Song 3 played at my request was Caribbean Queen- Billy Ocean to harsh disappointment. This open and very airy recording seemed completely robbed of it’s natural ear candy & genuine charm. This song I chose is strategic as It provides a clear differentiation between systems that can & can not reproduce the high fidelity requirements. I have invented a new bass balanced speaker design which corrects and eliminates all negative effects mentioned in my review.

Adrian brought in several co-ops in the spring semester to help out at the store. A co-op is a university student who has a part time job as part of a work-study program that is related to their coursework or degree of study. Ceci and the others (not sure if there was one or two others behind the cameras) mostly did stuff that didn't require knowledge of audio equipment since they worked on the store's Internet site and helped with social media, such as making/editing the KZbin videos. Both of those things are important to running any type of business these days. I am pretty sure they had the education and experience to do those things and that it was related to their college education. But Ceci did make it on camera to express here opinion about which audio products sounded better than others, and I don't think one actually needs to know anything about hi-fi gear to do that, they just need an interest in music appreciation and critical listening ability, and hopefully some exposure to live music. In one respect, I think that Ceci's opinion on which equipment sounded better was refreshing, because she had no prejudices about solid-state vs tubes, integrated amps vs separate pre-amp and amp, ported vs acoustic suspension speakers, soft-dome vs metal-dome tweeters, dynamic vs electrostatic drivers, etc, since as you stated she had no knowledge of those things. She also had no emotional baggage related to any particular brand. Her opinion was strictly based on how it sounded to her. Ceci also knows something about social media communications, as demonstrated when she masterminded that prank against Lewis.

Great video! I loved all the questions. I hope you do more of these. I thought you would say MA12000 as best value as it was the first integrated that you thought was comparable to separates. I realize the price tag might be hard to make it a "value".
@adrianlow2114 Жыл бұрын
MA12000 is indeed superb.
@Mark-rw3kw Жыл бұрын
In a previous video Adrian said he was reluctant to order the new MA12000 when it was first announced because he wasn't sure people would pay that much for an integrated amp. But the McIntosh rep convinced Adrian to order one, and when it came in and was set up as a demo, on the first day a customer took the demo model for an in-home trial and then almost immediately purchased it. The MA12000's have apparently been flying off the shelves since then (or flying off the floor since they are heavy). Integrated amps or separates aside, I think there is a trend towards having a tube pre-amp stage and solid state power output amplifier. Even some stand-alone amps like the PS Audio BHK Signature 250 Stereo Power Amplifier combines a vacuum tube input with a solid-state MOSFET output. I am also seeing this in some Class D amps, with a vacuum tube input stage. Personally, I think Adrian should look into this more, as it may be the future of high-end audio.
