I've been in the Audio Industry for over 40 years, I truly enjoy hearing Adrian's thoughts and ideas. Such clear, organized and entertaining dialog. We are the Daniel Hertz dealers in Western Canada, set up a listening session with us - we have a number of fine speaker brands to use during your demo, or bring your own speakers if you'd like. Thanks Adrian! The Gramophone Edmonton

I often rotate gear and in 2023 I picked up a used Maria. I was immediately disappointed by its build quality. Plastic, what were they thinking!? But performance wise is kind of mind blowing for the price, as in my experience it kept up with separates 3-4 times its cost.

Hi @adrian, watch guy here. Now, if we all could have a dealer that is willing to loan us Daniel Hertz gear, we’d all be golden 😂 But here is a question for you; why do we often see you wear clothing that said University of Waterloo? Did you go to school there? Or did one of your daughters? I feel like there is a story there and us the viewers must know!

We all know the Garrard 401, considerin it being in a proper massive plinth (Auditorium23) and with a well working 1962 Ortofon RMG309 12“ arm and a EMT TSD15 with A23 SUT. I‘d like to know if there is from your (AEC) perspective a turntable equally reliable, powerful, musical or better giving musical engagement-speed, tonality, texture in voice and music instruments, absolute silence, and simplicity in maintenance for a reasonable price that makes an upgrade worth it without going into an Oligarch or Panzermine system? Or what would be such improvement, on a different angle that makes sense as a modern partner (second player) to that very satisfying G401 I have? My listening goes across all easy (Rock, Pop, Reggae, Jazz, Electronic), classic, and hard (avantgarde, experimental, Jazz, ethno) listening of 33,45, new 78 and old 78.

poor mike. has no idea about what he is listening to. he was trying to describe a crash cymbal. as opposed to a ride. common on every drumset. as an audio engineer, i laugh at the amateur audiophile guys. you wanna hear the recording as intended? listen to it on the type of monitors they mixed them on.

Always great sessions with you all! As far as the Daniel Hertz product: no one seems to mention that effectively there is a lot of digital signal processing used, nothing wrong with that! I lived in the Magnepan ecosystem with various models ending with the 3.7i for 23 years until recently when I fell hard for the Anniversary watt puppies and switched over.

Shakespeare would have been proud of you Adrian when you said that it is preferable to enjoy a Daniel Hertz amp despite any concerns about Mark's eventual absence. "Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" :-) Besides, I think Mark is smart enough to have contingency plans in place, right? BTW Adrian I have a product THAT YOU MUST CARRY - I'm making it in my backyard and selling it for only 100$ a square foot. It's grass sod and when I put a piece on my speakers it made an AMAZING difference in the SOUND! Wink wink ... Are you interested? (a word of caution . . . you'll need a place in your studios where you can water the sod at least twice a week and a lawn mower, preferably a battery powered one for use inside your studios. LOVED this video -THANK YOU !

Have you herd about Popori Acoustics panel speakers? Highly touted by some KZbin reviewers. Appears that there is no Canada distributor, but they seem to deal directly with dealers (they are based in Hungary).

Interesting take on Wilson. I never liked Wilson until I heard the Sasha DAW's, which I purchased. Daryl has done some amazing things there. Same thing with DCS, never liked them until I heard the Apex upgrade, which was a game changer for them imo.
@davidbee817816 сағат бұрын
I like the DAW's too . . .I don't have them but I do like their look . . . a long time ago I heard some Wilsons and was turned off by their high frequency harshness and I admit that I've always been prejudiced about them ever since. I AM open to hearing the DAW's with tube gear but TOTALLY turned off by their Darth Vader look alike XVX's ! :-) SO over done, overpriced and they MUST be listened to pretty far away because the mids and tweets are too far apart to create a cohesive soundscape. Going back to your DAW's . . . DO enjoy and congrats!

I urge you to be cautious with your words when speaking about others. The same statements could easily be directed toward a family member of yours-consider how that would make you feel. Please think carefully before you type. Never wish harm upon others or celebrate someone’s death, regardless of how you may feel. Have a great day!

Have not seen an equalizer on the market In years
@GShockWatchFan.2 күн бұрын
EQ is not necessarily if you have quality equipment that has good synergy between components
@adrianlow211414 сағат бұрын
A good EQ can help with poor or average recordings.
@fendergibs13 сағат бұрын
Not true at all. A bright recording can easily be corrected with a good EQ or a recording with no bass or presence that might need a little assistance Audiofiles assume the producer knows what they're doing in terms of quality production, that's not always the case. Otherwise they limit the records:cd/files they play to audiophile quality recordings only, which is quite boring.

I am not sure what could convince me that 3000$ makes any sense at all for an EQ. Only reason to buy it is to show off your ability to light money on fire.
@mikeg24912 күн бұрын
Not to sound like I’m defending the price but I’ve seen so many audiophiles say I’ll never use an EQ because it introduces distortion into the mix. I think if you’re looking for the Cadillac of EQs that won’t color your sound beyond what you tell it to do this is probably it. Also it’s a market that is severely underserved as hardware EQs have mostly disappeared. So it’s simple supply and demand. Would I buy it? If I was a millionaire, probably . Otherwise no, I could find a nice restored vintage Mac preamp with EQ for the same price.

I’m going to be building a 2 channel music room. Existing McIntosh MT5 TT Existing McIntosh C2700 New McIntosh MC312 amp Mostly playing vinyl records I’ve heard pro and cons for adding one of the following. 1) MEN220 room correction Or 2) MQ112 equalizer Would love to hear your opinion. Thx
@brisingrxm60222 күн бұрын
If you want to keep it all analog, go with the equalizer. The equalizer is also very good if you listen to quite a few older recordings/poorly recorded albums. If those are not concerns, the men220 would be the better overall choice. It can fix room issues and will get you a better end result. McIntosh even says that the equalizer is best for adjusting the music to your speakers, so if you are happy with how your speakers sound but just want an improvement overall, the room correction is the way to go.
