Not every acquisition is a death sentence. It's up to Bose whether they want to let McIntosh be McIntosh and profit from that, or try to change it for short term profits and ruin McIntosh and losing Bose's investment. I with a large company who has done both things. Our latest acquisition we are leaving generally untouched, we are sharing engineers and manufacturing expertise. It's working really well fro both of us. The point that was brought up about Bose help McIntosh form an OEM car audio division is one great approach. It takes know how and connections to get anywhere in the auto industry.

For Accuphase E-4000, is there a HT-Bypass function? Which LINE IN sockets are for HT?

I would not take a long haul flight without my Bose noise cancelling headphones. OK Bose is at the low end of Hi-Fi - so what? As for me in my two Hi-Fi rigs: I would rather be tied on a slab in Transylvania with Vlad the Impaler using me to prove his thesis that the Marquis de Sade was but an amateur, than have Bose in my system.

Enjoyed, thanks. There are two reasons why I would never buy a D'agostino. First is the price. Second is the truly hideous looks. I like steampunk but this is going too far. You can buy products for their looks, I get that. But this design is more 'look how expensive I am'. I find it vulgar and embarrassing. Just as bad is his name splashed around. If he had real class he would understand that there is more value in having people say: 'WHO designed that?' The understated elegance of Pass Labs .8 series is more to my liking. There is competition in the vulgarity stakes - I am undecided who the winner is: Dan or Dartzeel.

I've got a pair of MG 2.7 QR 's powered by a Rotel RB993 (200W/ch) that I purchased new 24 years ago. I have loved these speakers from the very first day! My wife and I built a new home a year ago and the plan just didn't provide for the speakers' placements. I want to put them in my workshop, a 30'x60'x14' spray foam insulated metal building where the acoustics are surprisingly ok with additional opportunities to improve them. Separated into two distinct spaces, I'd like to place the MG's WITHIN the wooden stud framed demarcation wall causing it to throw sound into both spaces. Temperatures in the building range from 45 to 80F winter to summer and I expect to wrap the cavity in a very thin and lightweight moisture barrier to minimize humidity and eliminate dust (the back side is my woodworking shop). The moisture barrier may dull the sound a bit but that's why I'll wrap the cavity rather than the speaker itself and any impact is still better than a good coating of sawdust. Any thoughts, ideas, or other concerns I need to consider?

What if 1/3 of the new speakers punch above their price range? Are we getting a price-hike? Or is the the other speaker just a lame box meanwhile as the price range received a generational quality improvement? Or is it just plain BS Marketing?

G’day from sunny Adelaide, Australia. I own the 1.7i but accompany it with the REL S812. Key for me with the Maggie’s is DSP. I have to say I love them but their sound out of the box is not very good once you’ve been spoilt with DSP correction. I own the DEQX HDP5 digital processing pre amp with the PS Audio S1200 mono’s. In the DSP environment of the DEQX it fixes both the time alignment and frequency response and gives me control over crossover so, I roll the Maggie’s off around 50hz which allows me to push them harder and louder as not so much current is going through them. The imaging with time correction is amazing, truly night and day. The bass on music like from Max Richter is so deep their combination is everything I could want…nearly. Being an audiophile I still want to upgrade and can’t let go of the Maggie dipole sound now, but would like a little less work from the DSP side of things so thanks for the review of the 2.7i. I’d be unlikely to ever go back to box speakers. That tweeter may be the solution but, worry its more delicate and susceptible to damage, especially with 1200w from the PS Audio mono’s.

Adrian thank you for expressing your thoughts regarding the 90's Mirage M series bipolar monoliths. Those were/are still my defacto favorite reference soundstage speakers. I have yet to find a manufacturer that has since been able to replicate the "miraculous" effect with the realism my defunct M3si could. Unfortunately they died an unceremonious death due to abusive wattage neglect as my unbridled enthusiasm for louder and louder dynamic needs took its toll on the ferro fluid cooled titanium hybrid tweeters. I blew a bunch with my McIntosh MC2500. When I called API to request new voice coils they had all but run out of production. 😢 End of story....BTW, Thanks for rekindling those memories.

Sashas are great, though I'm more of a Focal Scala guy at that price point. At the high end, I think they're a bit overpriced for what they deliver (for example when comparing a 200 grand Alexx V with a 120 grand Sonus faber Aida 2 or a Focal Stella Utopia, or comparing a 320 grand XVX with a 200 grand Bayz Audio Counterpoint 2.0). Am still curious to listen to the Master Chronosonic once, they're my unicorn, haven't had a chance in decades.
