I love watching film of your plants in the ground. It always looks so beautiful. Very pleasing to the eye, indeed. I have some broad beans to plant ou, but am waiting for the soil to become unfrozen. I think we are due some slightly warmer temperatures after today, so a job at the weekend. I am just starting to harvest my kalettes- very late for me this year, also now pulling my celeriac. Delicious! Having a celeriac bake with kalettes for dinner today- can't wait, so delicious. It is at times like this, when I can make my dinner from stored onions and freshly harvested roots and greens that it makes it all worth while. Alll the failures and heartbreaks are forgotten when a meal is dished up that I've grown entirely myself, Feeling very happy. Happy gardening 😃

I've found out one thing with my first year of growing kalettes/flower sprout: The flavour significantly improves after successional frosts, even more so than with brussels sprouts. Broad beans & garlic are both where I want them & I've given all the paths a 5cm layer of 6 month old chipped privet. Beds will be getting their annual 3cm of compost in the near future. Trying to spend time on gardening as a distraction, as my younger brother is in ICU critically ill.

So sorry to hear that, I unfortunately know how that feels, but as you say gardens can be a great place to retreat from the world for a few hours : All the best - Steve

Hi Steve, thank you for sharing your inspiring video. I grow some vegetables in the summer, but not as successfully as you do. I'm interested in winter gardening but struggle with planning. Do you have any videos on seed sowing dates or a calendar for succession planting?
@SteveRichards
@SteveRichards 9 ай бұрын
I do, every month I make a video on what to start when, in the description of that video you can find all of the details of how that succession is grown, eg are grow lights used, is it planted out under cover etc. You can see the old versions of those videos in the reference info section of my ebook, which is here: steverichards.notion.site/Reference-information-eb1f6a760b9c4b5d8e9683502dfec7d0?pvs=4 For most things that I grow I have a full growing guide, this goes through every succession, with details, you can find that here: steverichards.notion.site/Individual-growing-guides-bc279089de074c0ab0bfedc4f41d54dd?pvs=4 if you want advice on what to do in a particular month (rather than what I did) you can see my monthly guides, here: steverichards.notion.site/Monthly-detailed-growing-guides-cbead85598474ba3b57211fc18c65f02?pvs=4 finally I really suggest you subscribe to my newsletter, in that I grow through what I do and what I recommend others do each week, with links to all of the relevant chapters of my ebook and relevant videos, you can do that at steverichards.substack.com look at the links in the description of this video, or any recent video for more : All the best - Steve
