HI P.R. I have been following you for about a year. I am 8 months into my journey and am taking the course in Sandiego in a few weeks during Homecoming. I wanted to take the class before I even got my sisterlocs. I was going to take the course and install myself but choose against that and had someone else install. It has been a good run but never planned on depending on someone else to maintenance my locks forever. So going to skip my late june retight and try myself for the first time after the course. My daughter has them as well so I will get practice with her too. Thanks soo much for sharing your journey!

Congratulations! ^__^ That's wonderful news. Been hoping you'd someday be the one to begin my own SL journey (since before you trained, even, I was thinking "it's gotta be her!!!" lol), and I still hope that comes to be! :-) Many, many blessings.

Congratulations! I love your videos because you always bring the spirit home and get to the essence of our journey, our hair, our being. You emanate that natural beauty, so wise and beautiful. I'm signed up for a Sisterlock Training coming up in August and I wanted to know if they assist Trainees in developing a successful Sisterlock Consultation business? Thanks & Bless
@PRCharles7 жыл бұрын
Wow you ask the deep questions +YaYa. Okay....no. LOL that was succinct...yes? They give slight tips in the training. Unless they've changed since my last training. The training is to teach you the SL method. Marketing is a big thing with any business. They offer references for apprenticeships. There you might get help from consultants that have a marketing mindset. Mind you they might cost. I did one and there was a charge. In that additional training there wasn't any marketing help. It's focus was on doing SL. How to move faster and practice doing heads. Thanks again for sharing 😀
@sisteryaya247 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much P.R. Charles! I was hoping they had a business development model that consultants could follow while developing their own business. I guess I'll have to look elsewhere for that kind of guidance. Do you have your own salon? I would like to work in someone's natural hair salon as a Sisterlock Consultant so I'm hoping that door may open up for me after I finish my trainee phase and become certified. Again, so thankful for you. Bless
@PRCharles7 жыл бұрын
Hey +YaYa no I don't. When you go to the class you can ask about the references for apprenticeship and most work in a salon or even a home salon that will welcome the help. Ask around and then call them. That's what I did. Hope this helps. 😀

Congratulations, how long did it take you, to get certified? thank you for all you videos. Your channel has encouraged me in so many ways. From maintenance, styles, THE JOURNEY and a real real true perspective on this life called "True Sisterlock journey". I took the class in Detroit MI, then I ESTABLISHED my own sisterlocks!!!!!! I'm 3 months old. I received a client to retighten and she has put her trust in me...lol. So with my arms opened thank you so very much, you are genuine and honest in your videos....
@PRCharles9 жыл бұрын
+DEAWNNA PRETLOW You go girl you are serious! You installed your own?!! That in itself is courage, guts, and determination. Your sisterlocks will mean a whole lot more for you since you installed them. And that is a great feature as a walking billboard. Thank you do much for the loc and video love. Now for your question...It took me the full two years and some months. First off I understood wrong. I thought my first qualifying client had to be installed and maintained for a year before I could hand in my photos. So in the beginning I dragged my feet a little and when I got a client I figured "Oh just relax yourself. You have to have a year go by anyways." Please don't ask where I got that? 'Cause I, myself...don't know or can't remember...lol. Anyways, then the other two qualifying clients came within months after I decided okay you have two years max (+ grace of 6 months) to finish the requirements and time is dwindling down. You don't have to wait that long. You have the clients and you feel good about your work and skill you can send the photos and applications in pronto...of course following the details for certification. I honestly waited up until the end to send in everything. Then you have to wait to be reviewed for the office receives a lot of applications. I sent my paperwork in October 2015 and it was reviewed in late Dec. Then loaded up to the site in January 2016. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions feel free to email or inbox me. Thank you for sharing. :-)

How does one take classes all the way in Nigeria
@starrlightgoddess8 жыл бұрын
First let me start ofg by saying congratulations!! Also I would like to ask a question because I'm finding a hard time researching the answer. I know about cosmetology; but do you have to have your natural hair license to become a sisterlock consultant or loctician, or can you just become certified to do ppl hair...
@starrlightgoddess8 жыл бұрын
*off
@PRCharles8 жыл бұрын
+lapassion901 Thank you. No you do not need to have a natural hair license in order to become a sisterlock consultant or loctician. That's just a specialty of natural hair. It is independent of a natural hair license. But you have to check with your state for the protocol in order to have a natural hair business in the shop or salon setting. Each state is different. Great question for I had to research it too. Thank you for sharing. =)

+P. R. Charles Darn I wish you were a little closer! I'm in the Boston area. I did go on the website and found a few consultants here in Boston. I spoke to one on the phone and she seemed liked she took what she does seriously. Then I saw one of her clients hair and I liked it. So I may go have a consultation. But I like your vibe to. Seems like you're into what you do and would make sure you do the right thing for your clients hair! That's my main concern, to make sure someone is going to do right by my hair! ha Actually I have some family/friends in the MD/NY area. maybe I can work something where I can have a consult with you as well. How often are you in NY? The only thing is the every 6 wk tightening's tho.
