Thank you for this commentary! Prior to my sisterlocks, I had loose natural hair. I would use my fingers for a comb.. came in handy. You are spot on when you mentioned it requires less product as a oppose to loose natural.

Great video P.R., you always provide words of wisdom. And this is something I will try to keep in mind as I get my SLs established in the next couple of weeks. Last video, you said that you weren't going to say the word "install" anymore and I know that "install" is bothersome to some people as far as establishing SLs are concerned. Can you explain why? I'm just curious because I saw one woman say it drives her up a wall lol
@PRCharles7 жыл бұрын
Hey +tlovespeaksss. Please help me out a bit. Just to make sure we are on the same page. You mean establishing the SL...If that's what you mean.... It is very time consuming compared to retightenings. Retightenings are quick (within the 4-6 week intervals) Establishing grids, parts, troubleshooting, checking and correcting any slippage in the onset...well...it can be tedious...it comes with the territory. After starter locs are completed there comes the reaction to washing and bundling, the persons grooming and maintenance habits. Sometimes you correct slippage only to do it again after a couple of washes. Certain hair types buck back in the beginning 😂 It's like it's being defiant. When the locs start to behave in a predictable pattern (show it's loc'ing behavior that can be guided easily) then it's off to the races. The fun part. Simple retights. Hope this helps. Thanks for asking and sharing 😀

P. R. Charles thanks P.R for responding, but I think I asked my question wrong. What I'm trying to ask is why do people use the word establishment as opposed to the term install? I've heard some people say that they hate when the word install is used to describe the process of beginning sisterlocks. and I just wanted to know why.
@PRCharles7 жыл бұрын
Thanks +tlovespeaksss lol I was wondering did you mean the word. It's an ugly, well let's say not flattering context associate with the word. Install. I remember telling a male friend that I was in the middle of an install. He was like what like "technological, software install? Installing cabinets? Appliances?" I laughed because I understood the context with that word. It can be tedious and I can understand how the word install came up (we really don't say I'm due to install my weave, or install my braids. We are "installing" putting small locs into place or position to "service" us (the individual) with styling versatility that keeps the hair's texture in tact. Aka textured free flowing hair. Install ( the context) conjures up something distant, cold, and disconnected, aloof to me now. People even dread the idea of this initiation process and want to get it over as fast as possible. Establishing, cultivating (like this one the best) locs gives a different connotation. It reminds me of gardening, loving, nurturing, and caring for something. If someone said to me "How long was your cultivation session?" When is your cultivation session? When would you like to schedule your loc nurture sessions" Different feeling and vibe. This is a process that fosters acceptance of self. Appreciation of the the curl. Feeling beautiful with what we have naturally and the word "install" just doesn't do justice. Hope this helps more than the first response. Thanks for sharing again. 😀

i have micro twist and they unravel from the ends. i stopped adding oils. i only wash and add pure aloes. i was wondering your opinion on sea salt rinses.
@PRCharles7 жыл бұрын
Hey +Changing Morgan. I don't know about salt rinses. I personally haven't tried them. Oils yes on the twists could cause slipping. Are you aiming to loc from twists? Thanks for sharing 😃
@dehgyal7 жыл бұрын
yes i am locking from twists. it is unraveling from the middle not roots or ends.
@PRCharles7 жыл бұрын
Did you get it professionally installed or you DIY it? Your locs are slipping? How are you addressing the new growth?
@dehgyal7 жыл бұрын
P. R. Charles I did my twists myself. they are loosing from the middle not sure how to explain. I have interlocked my roots.

LOLing @ why do I look like a plucked chicken? I'm certainly anxious it looking like one. Would you recommend using the interlocking method to start locs on fine but very dense 4c hair?

My sl are very stiff. I just got them installed in October. How do I loosen them up? I have very fine hair. And I want to wash my hair once a week. But I’m afraid of slippage. What would you recommend.

Hi P.R. I love your videos. I just got sisterlocks 2 weeks ago. My consultant started my sisterlocks w/ a reverse 4 pattern. Is this a good pattern to start sisterlocks with? My natural hair has loose curls, i think they're 4c. I had my 1st retightning today. My sisterlocks are quite thin! When i asked if they'll get fuller she said some of her clients' sisterlocs double in size and some don't, meaning they stay the same size! Is this true? I thought all sisterlocks double in size?!! I l know it's only been 2 weeks but im worried, lol, based on what i see now and what she said. Any advice for me?
