I wonder did you guys get a good durian or not? Choosing durian is hard to do for most ppl. It's harder than choosing your life partner. Here some tips from my mom, bcs she really loves durian so much. 1. Choose the durian with unique shape not the perfect round one. 2. Take a look at the thorns, a good one will have small and sparse thorns. 3. Then choose one which is not so heavy so that you'll get a durian with thin skin but contains a thick durian, and vice versa. 4. Also you can smell the durian, if it smells good then the durian is ripe. If it doesn't smell good then it's not ripe yet and will taste awfull. A good durian will taste sweet when you eat. Also here's some tips when you want to eat durians. 1. There's some line on the durian, so if you want to open the durian first thing to do is to open it by following the existing line with knife, do it from the bottom of the durian. When you get the hole, then break it into two with your hands just like how Dave did in the video. Split them again with your hands until the smallest and you feel like you can't split it into two anymore. 2. Eat durian with hands thooo. No one eat durian with spoons, it's like an insult to durian if you eat it with spoons (lol jk 🤣🤣🤣) But srsly, durian should be eat by hand. Sorry for the broken english i use to explain it, but hope this can help. And CMIIW. 💕

Durians naturally grow in the southern part of the Philippines so not all Filipinos like it. I, myself, live in the south and I've seen durian growing up. It's just around a dollar per kilo during peak season so basically sometimes it's cheaper than mangoes here. The first time I ate it was when I was 12, I actually threw up. It took me like 5-7 years to eat it again. I liked it since then and now I'm addicted to it. Just like what Amber said, it's like wine - it took some few tries to actually loving it. Now, my next goal is to try the "red" durian! I can't find it anywhere here.

durian is from malaysia and indonesia i think, because in bahasa duri is mean thorn. like the name of rambutan means hairy fruit. almost all indonesian like durian. different breed have different taste, in my city there was a mix breed spesial durian called j-queen that sell for high price. they sell it just 4 pieces, and the price is about 1000 dollars a piece. its sold out in 1 day.

For those who want to try Durian, after your done, use the hollowed parts of the durian, fill it with water and wash your hands and rinse your mouth with the water. Do it a couple of times and it gets rid of the durian smell form your breath and fingers.

durian is so expensive in the Philippines. It's a seasonal fruit during October. My family and I love durian a lot and the funny thing is you will know right away that durian is in the house because of the smell. Tips: For first timer, you may want to get the sweet durian for your first taste. Haha. Some on Durians are tasteless, quite crunchy (this usually tasteless and has cabbage-like texture as Amber said). It's great that you guys finally manage to taste the sweet one! Hurray!

That the most expensive Fruit ever .I admit the the fruit have strong smell but the way you eat is a totally in the wrong way...It's mush be one big bite at the fruit and ignore the smell.Our parent teach to not smell when eat that fruit .play with tongue ,feel the flavor .. I give example : some alcohol or liquor have some bad smell also,but in the end you still drinks it, the million dollar question . You already know that smell bad.why you still drink?... The answer is simple , because you want feel that flavor right..same as durian

I do agree with all the smell descriptions but that's when u are not used to durian yet. looking at the colour, this is a sweet variant of durian... there are more bitter variant which i enjoy most (i guess that's an acquired taste too haha)

Thank god that most of you liked it haha. I personally loves it and always have no idea why some ppl hate it. Even the smells just so good lol. And true, always eat the softer parts for sweeter taste. Btw, vai and others found it tasted similar to gasoline? It’s actually pretty common cause the more it gets older, the stronger it tastes from fermentation. So don’t be alarmed, just if it get fermented way too much, you’ll get drunk! (not a joke, it’s real).

when eating durian, you need to know the sweetness part in it. some of it might taste plain (unlucky), and some of it taste really sweet though (lucky you), you need to choose the right one~ i do enjoy eat durian, but i dont eat the plain unsweeted one (usually the unsweet texture is bit hard than the sweet one) and make sure to drink lots of plain water, cause durian is hot~

It's just a bad Durian you can tell by the color it's still green means it's not riped yet, the good ones usually have yellowish color, i feel sorry for these guys their first time eating durian experience are ruined. I'm not an expert in durian but it really does has a sweet taste. I personally would ask the seller to pick the good ones for me. Believe me it's not a bad fruit, just a bad durian ! go to southeast asia and i'm pretty sure you'll get the best durian. Also i recommend you to get Durian monthong if you're more into sweet taste rather than bitter like some people do, it's the best type of durian in my opnion.

Coming from southeast asia, you will definitely know this fruit or probably tasted it somehow or another. I tried it when i was young and was disgusted by the taste and smell. But trying it last year in Malaysia got me liking durian somehow. I think i only prefer the durians which are not so strong tasting. It may deter you at first try but you will definitely get used to the smell and the sweet taste later. A true acquired taste indeed.

SEA got very famous for their durian. malaysia, indonesia and thailand even they have different charateristic taste from whre country they come. Indonesia got small size durian with creamy buttery taste, Indonesia come with 2 type, sweet or if you an alcoholic person taste the bittersweet one

Not really 100% determined it but yes there are some people who extra sensitive on their taste buds or smell sensors. They are usually more picky at food beacuse their nose and tongue can't handle the strong smell or taste
