I wonder did you guys get a good durian or not? Choosing durian is hard to do for most ppl. It's harder than choosing your life partner. Here some tips from my mom, bcs she really loves durian so much. 1. Choose the durian with unique shape not the perfect round one. 2. Take a look at the thorns, a good one will have small and sparse thorns. 3. Then choose one which is not so heavy so that you'll get a durian with thin skin but contains a thick durian, and vice versa. 4. Also you can smell the durian, if it smells good then the durian is ripe. If it doesn't smell good then it's not ripe yet and will taste awfull. A good durian will taste sweet when you eat. Also here's some tips when you want to eat durians. 1. There's some line on the durian, so if you want to open the durian first thing to do is to open it by following the existing line with knife, do it from the bottom of the durian. When you get the hole, then break it into two with your hands just like how Dave did in the video. Split them again with your hands until the smallest and you feel like you can't split it into two anymore. 2. Eat durian with hands thooo. No one eat durian with spoons, it's like an insult to durian if you eat it with spoons (lol jk 🤣🤣🤣) But srsly, durian should be eat by hand. Sorry for the broken english i use to explain it, but hope this can help. And CMIIW. 💕

Durians naturally grow in the southern part of the Philippines so not all Filipinos like it. I, myself, live in the south and I've seen durian growing up. It's just around a dollar per kilo during peak season so basically sometimes it's cheaper than mangoes here. The first time I ate it was when I was 12, I actually threw up. It took me like 5-7 years to eat it again. I liked it since then and now I'm addicted to it. Just like what Amber said, it's like wine - it took some few tries to actually loving it. Now, my next goal is to try the "red" durian! I can't find it anywhere here.

durian is from malaysia and indonesia i think, because in bahasa duri is mean thorn. like the name of rambutan means hairy fruit. almost all indonesian like durian. different breed have different taste, in my city there was a mix breed spesial durian called j-queen that sell for high price. they sell it just 4 pieces, and the price is about 1000 dollars a piece. its sold out in 1 day.

For those who want to try Durian, after your done, use the hollowed parts of the durian, fill it with water and wash your hands and rinse your mouth with the water. Do it a couple of times and it gets rid of the durian smell form your breath and fingers.

durian is so expensive in the Philippines. It's a seasonal fruit during October. My family and I love durian a lot and the funny thing is you will know right away that durian is in the house because of the smell. We usually put in the fridge to cool it a little bit before eating it, and when you open the fridge the smell just comes straight to your face and maaaaan, I LOVE HOW IT SMELLS! ps. i hate how it smelt before but i love it smell now i just cant get enough 😭

I'm so late to this video but I've been a huge fan of your pronunciation series so I checked out your other videos and I'm a longtime fan of Amber's so it was great seeing her on here too! As a Cambodian, Durian has been my childhood favorite fruit and favorite fruit to this day. Honestly I had no idea that people associate it with a strong pungent smell because I've always smelled it as something sweet. Really glad to see you all try it and enjoy it in the end! Well except for Jaein but it's not everyone's cup of tea xD

The smell is special. Example: my dad bring a durian and not tell to me. But i'm know, in home have a durian. And I can't lay, A durian is my favorite fruit.

I get you love your food and wants to spread joy to other ppl, but pls dont force your taste into someone else or think EVERYONE WILL LOVE YOUR FAVOURITE OR NATIONAL FOOD. I eat kimchi and likes eating them, but I have never forced or got angry/disappointed to others because they were disgusted by kimchi. I know it can be yucky and gross to some people and I respect their opinions.

Tips: For first timer, you may want to get the sweet durian for your first taste. Haha. Some on Durians are tasteless, quite crunchy (this usually tasteless and has cabbage-like texture as Amber said). It's great that you guys finally manage to taste the sweet one! Hurray!

If you wanna eat duroan for the 1st time, please make sure that you bought the best grade.. durian has so many grades, which represent the better taste.. musang king is the no 1 grade for durian.. you should try that one.. delicious 😁

For people who try Durian for the first time, the taste would be better if u put in the fridge to make it cool. 두리안은 시원하면 더 맛있어요!!! 바나나 같은거 말고는 시원해야 맛있는거처럼 두리안도 시원하면 더욱 맛나답니다!! 싱가폴에서 하루도 빠짐없이 두리안의 냄새에 공격당하는 학생입니다 ㅋㅋㅋ

Just saw this, its the usual reaction we get for anyone who havent tried it. Glad Dave liked it at first try! Come to Malaysia, we even have whole restaurant just for eating durians of all breeds. Btw one fun fact, in South East Asia, another reason it is called the King Of Fruits is because before it was cultivated, it is usually found in jungles and it is a fruit loved by tigers. Aborigines & hunters often report (some even seen) these fruits being opened & eaten by the tigers (they claw the fruits open once the ripe ones fall off the tree, & lick the flesh of the seeds). Hunters also avoid fruiting durian trees so as to avoid coming in contact with tigers for this reason. Hence another reason this fruit is rare & highly sought after back then.

when eating durian, you need to know the sweetness part in it. some of it might taste plain (unlucky), and some of it taste really sweet though (lucky you), you need to choose the right one~ i do enjoy eat durian, but i dont eat the plain unsweeted one (usually the unsweet texture is bit hard than the sweet one) and make sure to drink lots of plain water, cause durian is hot~

I do agree with all the smell descriptions but that's when u are not used to durian yet. looking at the colour, this is a sweet variant of durian... there are more bitter variant which i enjoy most (i guess that's an acquired taste too haha)
