Picked up my panels. Probably work on setting up calving pens tomorrow. Warming up fast with strong winds tomorrow so I I want to be inside somewhere. Helped my brother move ewes and lambs to different pens. Had a coffee and caught up on the gossip in town.

@@burrridgefarmshard not to take that opportunity some days. Contemplating letting these 30 replacement heifers go I kept back. Almost called the trucker today. I can’t see much more upside, maybe more downside in the future. But I could be wrong. Kind of tempted to just buy another 20 breds and they’ll give me a check next fall instead of waiting an extra year for a paycheque.

Yeah sometimes it's hard to decide what a guy should do...... if I didn't have a mountain of feed the decision would be easier. I know the price has to slide but when? Plus this group is on the smaller side so they will finish out later in the year. I guess I need to look them over better tomorrow. 5 heifers are staying regardless.

The good thing is she produces like a dairy cow and her 2 front quarters are perfectly fine and her left hind quarter is almost back to normal. The right hind I’m thinking she might loose it but 3/4 is better then none and she always has had plenty of milk for her calves so 🤞

Good evening Ed. Damn, it was cold this morning! -8 🥶 l just stayed home all weekend so l didn't know what the roads were like. The 2 1/2 miles of gravel weren't bad but the 5 miles of hiway to work was still covered with ice from Saturday's storm. It was slow going! 😧 They were OK by mid afternoon.

@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin There might be a few slick spots but we're mostly dry when l came home. The State usually sprays brine on the roads before slick conditions are forecast. Don't know why they didn't this time. I sure wasn't expecting the hiway to be that bad.
