Dude, you really helped make my mind up about these cranks. I did not want to drop $500 on new cranks. So, after watching your vids I spent the $120. Thanks buddy

You don't have to drop 500.00. Just get SRAM NX or GX Cranks. Don't buy fake knock off parts like this. Or if you do, don't be surprised when they fail causing you or your bike some serious issues.

@@Live_Loam_Lap-po4qt When it comes to CNC metals, there are two things that matter and can affect the rigidity of a part. The CNC machining (equipement) The metal density (Alloy type) If those are up to standard and on par with the one big name manufacturers use (and 5DEV aint no big name), should the structure design/dimensions measure the same as that of the genuine part, there is no reason to believe there will be any sort of issues whatsoever. This is not a headset for an example, where you could have a counterfeit with a 1:1 structural design as the genuine part *but shit bearings* and cheap rubber seal, that would make the thing feel cheap and perform badly, this is a simple metallurgy process that is defined by very few variables. Most of the big name manufacturers use chinese or taiwanese equipment to manufacture their parts either way. Although it does not feel rationale, there is a very high chance these cranks are just as good as the ones 5DEV makes.

Most mtb cranks have pinch bolts. If you do slopestyle it’s a guarantee for them to come loose eventually. The cranks will strip. Then you have to buy more.
@phillevin66512 ай бұрын
So how exactly do you have these cranks installed? Did you use loctite on the crank bolts or not? Or did you grease the spindle bolt threads and grease the ends of the spindles, too? And what (if you did) torque did you crank the bolts too? SRAM are 54nm… unfortunately I stripped the EVOSID bolts at 54nm and had to send them back. I’ve since received a new set and think I read somewhere to only torque the spindle bolts to 35nm? Oh, btw on both Evosid crank sets that I’ve received the preload adjuster screw was attached.
@GabeGarcia2 ай бұрын
@@phillevin6651 so I think I’ve finally got it dialed, I would apply loctite on the drive side crank arm bolt and screw it onto the spindle(I just got it snug because I wasn’t sure what to torque it to). Then I would apply grease to the spindle and insert it into the bottom bracket (with a small spacer on the drive side and another small spacer on the non-drive side crank arm). Then I would apply loctite on the nondrive side crank arm bolt, preload adjuster, and preload adjuster screw. Finally I would screw the crank arm to the spindle and tighten the preload adjuster to get everything snug. I wish mine came with a screw for the preload adjuster. I’m not sure if that’s the reason the preload adjuster would get loose on me but the loctite helped me out a lot with keeping everything tight and secured. If I get these cranks again I would still apply loctite even if it came with a preload adjuster screw just to be safe. Hope that helps man and if you have any other questions feel free to ask 🙏🙏
@phillevin66512 ай бұрын
@@GabeGarcia perfect, thanks 🙏🏻. That’s what I’m gonna do…. Loctite the crank bolts but only tighten to 35nm, and i’ll loctite the preload adjuster and screw. Good idea to put a small spacer on non-drive side.. I had to screw the preload adjuster almost all the way in to take up all the slack. I did place small spacer on drive side to keep chainring spaced properly away from frame. I’m running a 32 oval Stone chainring on Orbea Occam H20 eagle. Thanks again!

I bought the cranks more than a month ago and the arms kept coming loose even though I tightened them to 54nm. I tried to grease the threads because I noticed a lot of friction when tightening but without results. Cleaned Everything and then use the loctite. To my surprise they came loose again but when I tighten them again I noticed that they go very smoothly, without the sensation of friction that they had previously. The loctite worked like a dry lubricator. After this they have not came loose again. My theory is that the thread is porous and the friction does not allow the piece to take the administered torque. Never had a problem with the preload adjuster.

Cranks like this or SRAM are press fit. The bolt presses the crank onto the spindle. That's why they have an extractor cap to remove them off the spindle. If you are using loctite it's because the cranks are unsafe and not machined properly. This isn't an if but when scenario. These will fail on you and if could be at a really technical part of a trail or landing a jump. Encouraging people to ride these cranks because you "feel they are safe" also put you in some very serious legal situations. If someone buys these and gets hurt, they can sue you. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. This isn't going to end well.
