putting in wiring corridors is what i've been doing, i've even started putting in a false ceiling with a block gap for wiring, chutes and pipeing if i need it, It's proven handy and allows me a full block floor to workwith for upper levels without having to deal with removing panels. but capac is right, a large central spine for maintanance access is better. i try to put my plumming below and my wiring above. this is largely due to how i do my transformers and fuses in the battery room. I like having the main trunk transformers on the bottom of the shutter doors with a fuse above it and a network analiser above it so all my power cables go up the way.

For the potted plants playthrough idea, you could start with a limited number of permissible non-breathable rooms, and get an additional permit for each x rooms with at least one plant. Double points if the plant is by a window. You may need to consider a penalty for every x plants that wither due to environmental mismanagement. It could be losing permits. Lose more permits that you have rooms, and now you have to choose what non-breathable rooms will you either make breathable or open to planetary atmosphere. I'd argue that airlocks are not rooms for the purpose of these rules.

RE The next playthrough: I do like the idea of restricting yourself to a more vertical build. One way to do that is mark out a footprint size on the surface (say 15x15 for the sake of argument) and you're only allowed to build within that area, but as high up or as low down as you like. If nothing else that would encourage you to make more interesting use of the elevators and windows. I would also suggest that you be allowed to build onto the outside of the structure to a certain extent; like say hanging solar panels, turbines (and maybe tanks?) off the exterior walls, probably even routing a good chunk of the piping outside. If nothing else it could give the structure a more interesting industrial aesthetic than just the usual grey box. How you might choose handle the rockets and landing pads could hold some challenges. You could allow yourself to make an exception and build those two as adjacent structures, you could of course just choose not to engage with them at all, or you can find and interesting way to integrate them into the structure; like say having the launch pad up on the roof (making landings an all-or nothing proposition if you manage to crash!), and (eventually) having an airtight hangar somewhere in the mid-levels, with a runway sticking out into mid-air (think; Avengers Tower in terms of silhouette.) Whatever you choose, a degree of pre-planning is going to be essential since once you decide to build a landing pad roof; you can't very well build any higher. Whether or not you'd want to extend the concept to "no digging on the surface outside of that area too" is your call. The upshot of course is no unsightly potholes in the new terrain, but I wouldn't blame you for not wanting to have to dig out mining tunnels from your sub-basement to get at the resources. On the other hand, I suppose it might serve to encourage you to get deep miners as soon as possible.

When you got stuck in the bed I couldn't help but laugh at the thought that you built this whole complex, struggling with cooling, waiting a year to make a shower, and then... might die in bed because you couldn't get back out of it :D

"Did you know, you have a broken pipe in the air lock... ".... It never gets old... No, I lie, it does get old, it has got old, it was old even when it was new... But still.. I MUST KEEP SAYING IT...

1:17:00 on the notion of "making you drowsy" I think they should do it subtly too. Make your icons and item count in the inventory slightly blurry.. eventually the item counts disappear until you click on them.. Subtle cognitive decline without having a big flashy warning sign that screams YOU ARE GOING DROWSY.. Could do something similar with taking health damage.. Start to walk slower, start to lean over from the pain.. stuff like that..

Saw part of the first video, didn't catch anything else until glancing at this to see how far it's gone... SKULLS!!! 😲 Now I have to watch more to find out exactly how those came to be and why they are on display.

Enjoy watching here and on twitch. Not sure if this has been mentioned or if it's relevant but I use a dial and a logic writer to set the temperature output of the ice Crusher to the lowest possible. A lot of people don't realise you can set the ice crusher temperature output

Noticed that during rocket launche ther is a bit of residual blamo around the ambilicol for fuel and the shutes, maybe that's what damages this part start by start untill its gone.

Hey Splitsie, you can move the rocket launch towers with the umbilicals further away and that should negate the damage the chutes are taking. I think they can be upto 3 frames away.

We need 1 more look at the bingo board. Truly this has been a long end of an era. It'll be interesting to see the Vulcan brutals. Hopefully your phase change knowledge will translate okay there as you hit the ground running, again. Maybe the reemergence of the toot and scoot! Last thing accomplished was a shower and a nice livable room! Now you can finally live in Venus for a long time.

How to picture the "pressure" vs "back pressure" Look in the direction you want the gas the flow to.. "Back Pressure" regulator is how much pressure you will allow "on your back" before you let anything through. Eg, it will take 6Mpa of pressure behind you before you fall over and pressure gets past you. Whereas a "pressure" regulator is more like a policeman.. As soon as you see too much pressure, NO MORE allowed! And again, you always face in the direction you want the gas to flow to.

AFAIK there is no pure ice from space. also all ice from space regardless of composition is just called space ice. unless there was a change since i last looked into it.

46:17 why is the temp 5°C and climbing? I thought the ice crusher was set to -5°C? Is this a result of the liquefication?

Because as the pollutant condenses, it heats the gas/liquid up

As a challenge it's a brutal one, but only one enclosed space. So untill you need plants it can be vacume outside whatever, but the storage, cooling production all needs to hapen in one single space, the walls between there has to be one full block of freedome in planes where you devide the room to keep an overfew so lets say you where to build a 3x3 cube. and you run pipes and stuff underground or above your mostly visibale ceeling one of the four conecting walls neds to be either open or grids, somthign htat let's through all the atmosphere. This way you A need to push hard vor breathable atmosphere or trading to survive, and B no more problem solving by volume but by efficiency with your new found knowledge and programming skills. Also no coridors it's wall to wall maximum airflow, within visual reasons.
