After the challenges I had while playing on the Draconis servers a couple of years ago I'm reticent to play in that sort of environment again (nothing to do with them, they were amazing and did everything they could to make things work, but there's only so much you can do when 50+ people want to be online in SE at the same time building crazy things).

I never saw the Goonies as a kid, my first introduction to it was via my girlfriend when I was 19. I remember thinking 'oh yeah, this is alright' but I think I'd missed the boat on being obsessed with it by that point. That same person introduced me to Labyrinth too :D

Yeah, the neutral NPCs have been able to progressively learn to hate you ever since the economy update, but I think their drones might be a newer addition (though I didn't see AI blocks on them so perhaps they're older than that update)

Yeah that's totally fair, the ironhide part is really tough

lol :D My two persistent memories of Civ 1 were of conquering the world with a literal sea of catapults and then one day managing to beat both of my older brothers and get the highest score any of us managed by wiping out everyone on king difficulty before (I think) 2000 BC :D

I've had ones that were hostile and not accessible, though it's possible that MES was up to shenanigans with them

It's something I enjoy, but only if my end goal is fairly short term. If I'm playing something that's going to go for months, it's no longer fun to lose all that, if it's a couple of hours to maybe a couple of days, the thrill of the risk really adds something for me :)

i think it would be a good change to the game if (in single player or self hosted multi player) the "proximity" of stuff to spawn would be determined by the players "effective max radio range" essentially instead of having stuff only spawn in a bubble of a certain radius around the player extend it by adding bubbles with the max radio range around all antennas the player controls/is friendly with. that way you could work at building a satellite comms network and send out fairly dumb drones in the direction of asteroids to scan them. if the ore detectors get a range boost when on voxel groups that they are locked down on then you could send out a probe, have it slowly bump into an asteroid and when there are ores and you are in comms reach you get them relayed over the vanilla comms

@@TheScarvig That's something I hadn't considered. How does radio spectrometry pb script work to begin with if you need to get physically close enough to the asteroid for it to spawn in ores? Are you already 'close enough' for the asteroid to spawn in if you can see it with a camera? Overall, yes I agree someone had mentioned an 'agoraphobic' run, where you do everything from a base via remote drones. I think that would be fun. We would need that behavior to make something like that feasible.

that ship encounter has been in the game for years, and until i saw that ladt video, i genuinely thought it was from an NPC mod because i'd only ever seen it once. the other was the hiding pirate station, in an egg shaped asteroid with a cute little house and mining ship inside. never found another in 5 years.

MadMavn did a nice No Suit Survival series starting on a planet similar to Pertam. Unfortunately, I think it burned him out on SE, and he stopped playing it on his channel after he achieved a significant amount of progress (bases built on other planets). Ref PvP in space engineers, I find developers often fall into the trap of catering to PvP because the people who play it are the loudest and most public. That you promote PvE and then create visibility of PvE seems like a good match.

Huh, they released on Steam just 1 month apart, but I forgot about the Zomboid laptop theft thing. Not sure if that counts since both would have been in development at that stage I would assume

@@Flipsie true. I was involved in the pre alpha testing in 2011 so for me zomboid is older lol my bad. No clue on 7 days. The internet only says 2013 as their pre release date

It's funny they're both such a similar age though, I kinda wish I'd found zomboid back then as it would have been a lot easier to switch over to it when 7 days stopped being the game I liked :D

@@Flipsie yes they are. I’ve loved zomboid from day one and feel that it’s gotten better with every major update. I can’t wait for 42 And I feel you on 7 days I’ve been playing that since before the first game update that changed the whole game. Kinda crappy that they changed the game at lest three time since the first launch. This last game changer kinda upset a lot of ppl. FYI I love your stufff man. I wish I could play space engineers but my laptop can just run it and when my stuff gets going it starts to drop my battery and crashes the pc lol
