You should get a “panel carrier” Kreg makes the one I use but there are other options available. It enables you to use your legs for pretty much all your lifting power and makes it really easy to not only move sheet goods around your shop but also lift panels onto a bench, although my 6’1” height probably makes it easier for me to lift a full sheet up onto my bench, your half sheets should be pretty much effortless for you to do by yourself. “Pro tip” I even use it to grip the sides of panels when I need to push or pull them instead of lifting, just close down the clamp and apply pressure at an upward angle.

@DavidLindes5 ай бұрын
31:37 - yes, you succeeded on all three fronts (interesting, educational, and enjoyable to watch). Building custom furniture like this (in particular, shop infrastructure type furniture) is something I've been thinking a lot about lately, and done a little of, but I've got a long way to go, so this was useful. One question I had at a couple points (first with the nailer strips, and later with the battery holders): have you explored French Cleats at all? I've only used them for little tool holders and such, but I've been loving them for that, AND they can kind of replace the idea of nailer strips (sort of), so, they could be useful in that context, too (though it seems like you were fine with screwing those into the wall, so, maybe not useful here). If you've explored the idea and ruled it out for whatever reason, that's fine -- the way you're doing things is perfectly valid. If you haven't explored them, though, I would recommend spending a bit of time on here looking for videos and checking out what they're about... To me, they're really cool, both for their original purpose (hanging cabinets and such), and the way folks commonly use them in the KZbin wood shop world (custom tool hangers and such) -- and hey, you could 3D print the tool holders for them, if you wanted. :)

Hi Tamar- excellent design and style of your finished cabinets. I’m a designer and I spend a ton of time in the shop and when I watch people building shop cabinets, I wonder why they don’t just make them nicer because it’s just a little bit of cost difference for material choice and maybe a little more time planning in the case of making a frameless look or something. But people have a tendency to, wish they had put more time in later in cases like that especially when you spend all your time in there. Just wanted to say good work and great final outcome!

My math sucks so having to downsize standard size projects is frustrating. I love how it turned out. I have a few suggestions for you since you are so good at sharing! The left corner you said is going to get shelves...make a folding step against the wall! That way you don't have to find a step ladder and it doesn't take up space. The frame portion of the drawer you had to cut off...turn it into a slide out or flip up under the next cabinet you make for when you need more temporary space. The next kick plate you make...put it on drawer slides to make a step to reach higher or another drawer. I look forward to more videos. Can't believe it's already been 2 years!
