I believe a lot of it is that Tamar is *not* really an amateur anymore but she privileges clarity of explanation over signaling her expertise through use of jargon, which I love! Lots of guys (it’s usually guys, alas) feel they have to learn to talk the talk even if they can’t walk the walk, and thus being clear and using layman’s terms is, they believe, disadvantageous to getting ahead in a commercial space. Overconfident use (and misuse) of technical language is a shortcut some can use to move up the ladder. Tamar, as I understand it, entered woodworking as a hobbyist and thus didn’t have pressure to project authority through talk or posturing. That’s my guess!

I forgot to mention how I noticed your interest in music. I noticed in one video a Hendrix album and your guitar collection. This is also an interest we share. I started playing guitar at about the same time I took up woodworking in the early 70's. I noticed an Epiphone in your collection. I have a 1974 Texan in my collection. It's grown sweeter with the decades. Funny how creativity crosses from art to music. Just another thing that makes me interested in your work. You're quite a young woman. Wish I knew you. You're very inspiring to an old boomer trying to stay engaged in my passions. Press on girl!

I’ve used both kerf bending and veneer layering to create bow front drawers. I prefer the veneer layering. It requires milling up your own thick veneers but it eliminates the need to hide the kerfs. In the end, it’s just a preference. Your work is beautiful and your great granddaughter will be proud to have that piece of furniture someday. Love your router jig and table by the way. It transformed the way I use a trim router!

Tamar, I really enjoy watching your videos. I'm an old time woodworker at 69. I started my interest at 16 or 17 with my father back in the early 70's. I had a career in architectural drafting and structural engineering. I have done countless projects over the past 50 years but I have learned things from your site. Your work is excellent and very creative. I have been challenged over the past couple years with health problems. A year ago I was diagnosed with cancer and went through 10 months of chemo but happily am now cancer free. I have been working at getting back my strength so this coming spring I can get back to the shop. Watching your videos has helped me very much. I have learned much about the latest tools from your site. It's so good to see a woman have such a talent and interest in the art. It was traditionally a boy's club and it's great to see a woman that's so talented and proficient in the craft. Keep up the great work and godspeed in your site.

I work at a shop where we make CNC router dovetailed drawer boxes using Blum style undermount slides, and we cut our notches for the slides very similarly on a dedicated regular table saw, just with two jigs to make it "safer" but there is a proper industrial machine that chips out the corner properly and we just haven't invested in that machine due to cost. Maybe if someone loses a finger. But yeah, we cut the notches first, and the only reason I can see not to is to avoid making a mistake and assembling a drawer with two fronts or backs, which has never happened and I have never done that.

There is nothing as satisfying in working wood than completing a challenging project making something for someone you love. I have done a few projects for non-family people, and I always covered/disguised any mistakes. For family, which is most of my wood work, I cover up the things that would be apparent, but not things not readily seen. I point any error and tell the recipient that I left it there as evidence that it didn't come out of a factory, but was made by hand.

Beautiful as always, made to fit in with her gorgeous bed using my newer and favorite finishing Osmo in the raw. My favorite is learning another incredible and often simplest technique that somehow you figured out effortlessly and really more than one or two in this build! I appreciate your detail in sharing the majority of the build and solutions because I take away a lot! I’ve used your solutions more than once and always appreciate I have you as a reference! Awesome job, now can you rebuild your table saw dowel making sled so I can see how you did that? Thanks always

I have an X1 carbon with 4 AMS's and run those dessicant holders as well as the ones in the floor and I also added ones to the left and right (smaller versions that fit). They work fantastic. A minor note on the humidity display...it's quite likely that you are running well below 10 percent when you add recharged dessicant but I suspect that is the limit of the sensor. It will show that for quite a while, but when it starts creeping up, it's to the tune of about 1% a week until the dessicant needs to be recharged. I typically let it go to 25% and since I have the sensor, the color indicating dessicant is not necessary, which makes me feel more comfortable about recharging it in the oven.

Great project! As always, showing the whole process (learning and all :)) is very appreciated. And I love the idea of using the hand screw clamp as a cutting jig on the saw. I will keep that in mind. :) Also, if you like the organization boxes, you might want to check out Gridfinity. :)

I can't wait to see you test printing in TPU. It's flexible and one use I've found is making my own desk grommet. Haven't tested it yet in situ, I need to actually make the desk first. Oh, for inspiration, I know Alexandre Chappel (another KZbinr) has a bunch of 3D printing stuff for woodworking, including a range of metric and imperial roundovers

I've done a ton of research on kerf bending to bend a very small radius for a console I built. It'll be much easier if you run hot water on the bend (you can use water straight from the faucet), it's kinda like steam bending since it'll relax the fiber more than just spraying water on it.

For sure. I used hot water in the spray bottle. Maybe I forgot to mention that!

Congrats on a superb project- really impressive results. Re: cutting octagons, Mike Pekovich at FineWoodworking uses and L-fence attached to the table saw fence on the opposite side of the blade to make those much, much safer. Given that you're the queen of jigs (profile sanding the 80 half rounds- super clever!), this seems like the kind of thing you might try.
