Man I could see a huge cottonmouth come off one of those mud banks and you two tryingng to get out of that cave with the swoofness. 😂 That water is too cold anyhow and there being no sun in the cave, makes it unpleasant for cold blooded reptiles BUT I have seen them in stranger places. One time I was hunting in December, there was a frost that morning and about 9:30 I got off my stand and started walking and stalking. I came to a little spring that came down off a hillside, went to step across it and something limp fell across my arms and rifle. 😲It was a small garter snake that was in a little ten foot oak tree. Because that was the last thing I had on my mind that icy morning, the shock value made me drop my rifle, barrel first in the mud. After I saw what kind it was, I cleaned the mud from my rifle and my underwear kept on hunting. Things Like that, in the outdoors, you tend not to forget.

I’ve got a few places here in Arkansas like this, there’s a place on mom’s property that I’ve been finding a lot of Native American artifacts even found a few relics. We used to have a spot in northwest Arkansas with a lot of Native American and Civil War relics all in one piece of property

Button is likely Mother of Pearl. It was a popular kind of button in the 1970s on the face, usually snap fronts then. I'm not saying it couldn't be older but it could be only vintage.

It makes sense you find lots of historics like glass and pottery since people would be attracted to a good spring and would leave items behind from getting water, eating, working etc. Cool video!

I'm sure it might not be feasible, but as much progress ( new roads, houses, etc. that have been built) from above as has occurred since the Civil War, the cave more likely than not has been silted in quite a bit. Don't know if you can dig a hole inside to find the bottom, but I would think that's probably where the artifacts you're after are mostly. Why is it that when you stumble onto things that for sure will produce artifacts, there seems to always be an obstacle in the way of success? These are great videos when you show the difficulties of fruitful exploring. I firmly believe that it holds a lot outside and under too. Soldiers and early inhabitants, if close in summer would have stripped off and washed and relaxed there.

Man, I had a panic attack just watching y’all crawl up in there!!! It’s definitely an interesting and beautiful place…..just stay mindful of the risks!! We’d all love to see y’all recover something incredible in there, but in a tight spot like that with so many variables that could spell disaster….it just may not be worth it!! My fear would be weakening the integrity of the surrounding soil and stone that’s supporting the extremely heavy ceiling!! Any removal of sediment…soil, rock, clay or sand from underneath could very possibly weaken the side walls by causing a change in water flow, thus undermining the walls supporting the structure. Anyways….we just want you guys to stay safe!! Bol to ya and God bless!! 👍🏻🙏

Only thing I'd say is maybe to consider not disturbing sites so much. Throwing big rocks aside, etc - thats an ecosystem for the fish/other animals, and yall ought to keep it pretty intact for the wildlife if you want it to still be a nice site in centuries ahead. But I get it - just think more - you have a responsibility and can teach the next generation how to do an ace job, too.
