One quick note on tire pressure: Tire pressure is different based on combined weight of the rider and motorcycle. The standard pressure set by the factory is for an average rider in average conditions. Each rider should be able to play with their own pressure to find the sweet spot for you, your bike, conditions, and riding style.

@@tammyforbes2101 Unfortunately the factory spec is a generic number used to accommodate a broad spectrum of riders. A person weighing 110 lbs and a person weighing 280 lbs should not use the same recommended tire pressure by the manufacturer. As mentioned by someone else, best bet is have someone who tunes suspension help you out or check out someone like Dave Moss.
@leozinhosozinho2 жыл бұрын
@Thomas B its not hard to test yourself, leave your tires at the factory 36F/42R cold for most bikes (correct psi for max load, usualy rated for rider + passenger if theyre both a overweight) and take a few corners, itll probably feel fine as youre used to it, now lower to 36F/36R cold youll likely not notice a huge difference until you change back to 42 and notice it feels like riding on glass comparetively, i found that a good combo of grip and wear at my weight (80kg), some go lower some go higher, its down to preference as everyone has a different riding styles that push the tires differently, with a passenger i run 38R and add preload The rating is for max load capacity, unless youre grossly obese the tires will be far too hard, loosing grip at smaller bumps and harshing the ride, but again, its preference, you dont lose anything by giving it a go though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@n300zx9312 жыл бұрын
@@thomasb282 this is not true for tire pressure. It's mainly determined by the combined weight of the rider and motorcycle. The amount of contact patch will change based on the weight acting on the tires. The other thing to consider is outside temperature. A lower tire pressure will cause a larger contact patch and more friction heating the tires faster and more. Tire pressure on a motorcycle is extremely important to get right. The manufacturer recommendation could potentially be just right for your weight. I have a heavy sport touring bike that I use recommended pressures on and its perfect for that machine, but I run lower than recommended on my lighter sport machines.

whats the biggest differences between the. R6 and R7? why did they make the R7???
@jared123123 Жыл бұрын
R6 is an inline 4 true super sport. 120-130hp, 45-48 ft lbs around 6-8k rpm . few extra pounds than the r7 but similar weight. Revs over 13k rpm , lots of top end power 150-160+mph R7 is a parallel twin making about 70-78 hp. 50-55 ft lbs torque around 5-6500k rpm. Doesn’t go past 11k rpm or so with top speed around 130. More torque etc on the r7 but overall it’s pretty drastically underpowered vs the r6. It’s also a cheaper though too. Ergonomics wise r7 is still pretty aggressive for a daily rider, also makes it quite capable though. R6 more so. Most of the 600 class i4’s have been phased out in favour of these type of twins. Lot of factors around that, emission standards being more strict, trying to make more useable power bands for the street. Just weren’t selling as much as they used too.

need to get you a pocket gauge for your tires mane. Doing it by feel/hand stopped working when bias ply tires stopped being the norm. The tires rubber stiffness will effect how much "pressure" you think you feel. Michelin for example have extremely soft sidewalls, 4:00 see my point , Ive had customers come in when I was back at NTB, complain they swear the tire was low, but their light was on for TPMS on the dash..."Here feel it!" they would say... brand new Michelins on it, they bought a week ago.. pushes on the side wall, I tell them "No - Watch.." as I put a gauge on it and shows them 60+ psi... because they thought the tire was low due to the light... it was actually telling them to check the tire pressure not add more...
