Cheers pal,ye as I've said it's my least favourite job but it's easy enough work and our wee Isuzu trucks have a great turning circle so you can put them pretty much anywhere, although it does get a bit smelly 🤢

@@billythebintruckdriver3952 Haha yeah I can imagine, we've always had DAF LFs for our food lorries, only isuzu we had was a hire that we bough temporarily, believe it might've been ex South Ayrshire actually, reg was SF63 THU. Do you prefere the DAFs or Isuzus out of curiosity?

@@FinBinMan That's registration does sound familiar 🤔. I prefer the Daf over the Isuzu, our daf food waste trucks are bigger than the Isuzu so that helps a bit. Both have pretty reliable in service tbh

@@billythebintruckdriver3952 Ah yeah fair doos, our Dafs are 12t so you can get a bit more on them than Isuzus. It would make sense if it was from yous as it has the same colour combo too couple of videos of it on my channel if you want to take a closer look👍

Great video! How often do you think you will be put on the food waste truck? Do you find the compactor does much work on packing the waste? Keep up the great work.

It varies to be honest,that's my first spell on food waste for over 6 months lol, but I'm usually on it quite regularly. The compactor on our Isuzu is pretty rubbish tbh but the ones that are on our 12 ton dafs are a lot better at compacting the waste.

thanks for the video never had a food waste bin truck before what licence is it ? i would like to do it if i had a hgv licence and dident realise its a compaction truck until you had it working looks intresting is there a video of it being emptyed ?

If it's under 7.5 ton then you can drive it on a car license if you passed before a certain year(can't remember the date) if not then it falls under a class 2 hgv👍. I think there is a couple of videos on my channel showing the food truck emptying into the skip ,hope you enjoy.

That seems very labour intensive having to mess around with bags on the communal bins. What do they do with the collected waste? Got lots of plastic in there to separate?

It is, I prefer the method that some other council employ where they put the food waste in with the garden waste,but unfortunately we don't do that. The waste goes up to a company in Cumberland where it's turned into energy and cattle feed I think 🤔

Why do you have a separate food and garden waste in my council we just throw everything in a single brown bin

Ye I've heard of other councils doing it that way,I wish we did as well but South Ayrshire want to keep it separate for whatever reason

Think it's something to do with the quality of the compost the separated streams produce or something like that, as well as the method of composting

Our council does that as well. Green and food waste goes into 140 and 240 bins.

Nice one, can you not take the boxes off the lifts and put the bin on instead rather than having to tip it by hand or are they fixed on?

Yes the boxes do come off lol ,but we just tip the bin in,unless it's really heavy then we will take a box off to empty it

Good video has someone just left theres a Job advertised for a bin loader im gonna apply for it , i live in Eastrenfrewshire council area the bin man it is definitely job and finish half the time there finished at 11.30 12

@@billythebintruckdriver3952 ive just applied for it a got rejected a couple of months ago i know alot of the time it’s internal jobs that get it but im going too keep trying im currently a council worker for Eastrenfrewshire at Rouken Glen park used too be part of housing maintenance and environmental side dealing way contaminated bins and bin juice barking haha im currently a litter picker i want more work

They areas do not get the small grey food caddies ,They have to use communal food bins that are left there all the time,that's why they are in the metal bin's, keeps down any smell and stops them getting blown about when it's windy
