Awesome! Impressive numbers for a 12mm. Way more than I made back in the day but I did only have 45psi of boost. 😂 I don’t do no Facebook I am too old. Lol I did actually run a ve pump on the stand yesterday. Just a stocker though but still first time in 10 years I think since I ran one. Anyway my 1000ftlb trailer puller not going to keep y’all in check. I going to have to drag out old yellow.

Drag the ole thing out! Unfortunately it is last minute for sure. I appreciate it! It's actually made a good bit more than what it did on this video as this was a Friday night and It was on the dyno until Sunday. I'm extremely happy with it!

@@GavinHuke having a dyno to tune on is a huge bonus. I never did all my tuning was seat of the pants then go to an event. I will say that when I was fooling with the pump yesterday upping the fuel pressure from 30psi to 60 psi made it quit dropping cc’s up to 3000rpm with my test injectors it was an almost flat 300cc from idle to 3000. I didn’t rev it out past that because I was testing my towing injectors. Didn’t get the results I wanted but oh well. I would say it drives 4 times cleaner but lost 100ftlbs

@@bcbloc02can a VE pump handle being fed 60psi over the long term? Or was that just for experimental purposes?
@bcbloc02 Жыл бұрын
@@AkCoastline I don't know about continuous pressure because old yellow and my crew cab run boost refrenced pressure but the crew runs 20psi base and up to mid 40's at full tilt and it has been that way over 15000miles now.

Maybe i should consider VE pumping my 24v HO instead of p pump swapping it?! Lol i know in theory its possible. I could defiantly save some money doing it that way, theres VE pumps everywhere. They are very reliable. You can make more power easier on a VP44 pump, but its the reliability I’m after. I don’t want any eleteonics. Im very familiar with the weaknesses on Vp’s and I’ve got a Fass system in place, and thats all good and well for reliability. But theres something about being all Mechanical! Ive had 6 first gens over the years, inter cooled, non inter cooled, 5 manual getrags and one automatic. Ive tinkered with the VEs considerably. And i understand why everyone always goes the way of the p7100. Its basically a little mini cummins engine thats compressing and delivering the fuel! They are more widely tune able, high pressures and can make insane amounts of power, they are also extremely reliable and will eat any fuel thrown at them like WVO, waste motor oil, used trans fluid etc. snd so will a VE and a VP, p7100 is just the best design, you cant kill them even if you are trying to! Now its not high horsepower I’m after. Im after reliability, long life, and a little performance and easy of maintenance/tuning. 600hp from a VE is plenty enough for me! Ive been planning the p pump swap since the truck had 80k miles and told myself i wouldn’t test into it until it had at least a 100k on it and was ‘broken in’. Its taken 8 years which has given me time to amass parts for the conversion. (Ya it took 8 years to out 20,000 miles on it! Lol) P pumps while I CAN find one, people are wanting over $1000-$1500 just for a buildable core! Compared to a VE pump, I can get a brand new built and modified bosch VE pump for $600 bucks! The rest of the parts needed are gunna be similar and identical as doing a p7100 swap, the timing case and gears will obviously be for a VE. The lines will be the tricky part and be custom one off, but I’ve seen it done on a truck so know it’s theoretically possible. So i guess my questions are: considering the horsepower range I’m going for, would it be better suited and cheaper and ‘easier’ as far as finding a buildable VE pump vs a p7100 pump, to consider a VE swap instead of the typical and highly popular p7100 conversion for 2nd gen 24v trucks with the problematic vp44 pumps.? Nothings better than a p pumped swapped 24v. Its the cats meow. Or should i just suck it up and shell out the cash for a p7100. I figure all said and done this conversions with all the pretty parts is gunna run be about $10,000. Im not half slap jobn’ it, my ‘02 6 speed is just to clean and nice to slap job it and do a farm shade tree quality job. Vp44’s aren’t all that bad, its half mechanical and half electronics. they’ve gotten kind of a bad redheaded stepchild wrap cause everyone compares them to the previous bullet proof p7100 and the newer cp3 common rail’s which are super reliable to and will eat anything thrown at them. The weakest link in a vp44 isn’t even anything to do with the vp44, it’s all to do with the electric stock oe crappy carter lift pumps. The vp’s would starve and over heat. Installing a fass165 is an absolute must for any 2nd gen with a vp44 and its really cheap insurance at the same time. Every diesel truck regardless of make/ model what ever should have one! Vp44’s with a solid uninterrupted constant flow of cool, clean filtered diesel will last a long time trouble free, even in higher hp applications. The vp44’s have their limitations tho… Any idea? After seeing this should i look further into VE swapping instead of a p7100 swap?

A VE 24v is fairly common and a cool swap, it's a lot to read but definitely reliable and get great fuel economy. I'm a VE guy much more than a ppump guy to say the least. I would not say any VE pump thats 600 bucks is worth having and if you want over 500hp it needs go be a comp pump, no stock maxed pump is going to make that power unfortunately. Evan Ratcliff would be your guy to talk to in that case

How come when you let off it kinda lopes you could say? Effect of the big pumps? Or are you doing that? Congrats on the 600👍🏻
@GavinHuke9 ай бұрын
I'm doing that, when you start making power with VEs you'll vapor lock them if you let off to hard, same with vp44 trucks. With VEs we have now figured out why and have fixed it to where they won't

@GavinHuke4 ай бұрын
@ThisClarkDude the fact it's still doing that basically just proves it's a benched stock pump with a fuel pin and governor spring. He needs to contact Evan Ratcliff on facebook at Ratman Perfomance and tell him it's vapor locking and he will get him fixed up.
