I've seen a lot of van builds use magnetics. Hope that helps. So impressed with your new home. ❤️❤️❤️ Here's another thought, glue a thin layer of batting between the cover and material. If you do that you will stiffen the blind as well as add an insulator to your cover. It should help block out the heat in summer and absorb the cold in winter. If your car window surounds are not metal for a magnetic to work. You could attach a small bungie cord to fit across each window, which would hold the window covers in place. They could then be removed & stored when not needed. Just a thought. Good luck....

Everything looks wonderful Jaylena! If you can find or make small sheets of metal stick in each corner of windows. Sew small magnets into corners of blackout fabric to cling to metal. It would work really well and easy storage for the curtains when you take them down. There are many glues out there that would permanently adhere the small sheets of metal to glass. Possibly JB Weld has one available. They have an assortment of options. Hope this gives you some new ideas to work with💖

That will help a lot during summer months to keep the heat reflected back out of the van too. You won't need as much energy to cool it. During winter, reverse it and it will reflect radiant heat back into the van to help stay warm. Looks great. 👍 Really coming along nicely. God bless and stay safe

Put a black curtain behind the seats instead of coverings on front windows. If you use reflectix on front windows it is a dead giveaway that someone is inside. Saw this on another channel that has been doing staelth for 7 years and has had no knocks on his doors in the middle of the night.
@b.hampton53864 жыл бұрын
Nice work! Love the name of your van! For an easy, quick, low budget option try cutting "guitar pick" sized pieces out of the plastic of a 2 liter bottle, round the edges so they are not sharp and staple them to the edge of your window covering material and then all you have to do is wedge them slightly between the glass and the rubber gasket of the windows and the coverings will stay put. You can cover the edges of your window coverings carefully and uniformly with black Gorilla Tape which holds up well to heat. "On the Trail with Bart" used this for his Promaster camper van build, you can see it in his video "Van Update #2 Promaster Conversion: After 4 months of living in it" at 0:34 seconds.

Love your stealth van!! ❤️👍🤠 We use reflectix in our RV... I originally used velcro to hold up the reflectix... I think small window suction cups, or even magnets, would be much better. Also, for the winter it gets pretty cold.... If I were going to do this all over again I would buy some half inch or 1 inch foam and spray adhere it to the reflectix. Then put the fabric on the foam. Thus adding more insulation and durability to the window coverings.
@cariboudle69154 жыл бұрын
For the fabric you can get some iron on batting which will stick to the covers, then sew or stick the fabric to the batting. The batting is slightly thick (different types available) like felt or cotton wool so the bubble pattern won’t show through to your fabric. It will also add softness and further insulation (but will make the covers thicker).

@@christinewhisenhunt Yes and that foiled bubble wrap is an insulation so it will help keep the temp inside comfy. I think they could work, on the flat part, just before the curve.. they can even go vertical on the flat parts. I had a walk-thru baby gate where we had to stick a stopper, with a lip, to each wall. and the ends of the tension adjusters on the gate tightened right inside and the lip held them from moving.. Kinda like a closet rod, how it sets inside the hole in a piece of wood.. lol oh we are getting into a lot of ideas . ha hard to describe the pictures in our mind sometimes. haha.. One van conversion put a shower curtain rod across the opening at the back of the van (not to the doors) and hung heavy duty black out curtains .. so whether the doors were open or not the curtains could be kept closed or they could be open.. now I thought that was brilliant as i'm sure it insulated the whole doorway rather than just the window.. Crafters use “ e6000” glue for just about everything. Joann’s carries it and fabric glue + you might be able to get some ideas from someone who works there. I was thinking that you could make some “ tabs” to attach to your shades and make the length long enough that you can tack them to the upper wood ( Inner ) part of your Windows and still be able to tuck them in flush against the glass. If you tack a long piece of ribbon or lace in the middle each can be rolled up for your drive- time. For the other windows that are metal, you could try small screws that can accommodate a small to medium size button ( one on each side ) that slotted tabs can fit onto. You can also get some ideas from those people who work at Joann’s or Michael’s ( fabric and craft ) stores. You don’t want hooks cause you could bump your “Noggin “ on one and snag your hair or something. This must be the kind of thing that inspired the old saying ,” Two heads are better than one.” ( Now, Sometimes more.) Good Luck fishin’ for ideas.

A privacy curtain behind the front seats will keep things stealth, As soon as you add covers to the front windows people will know someone is living inside. For times when you are parked and openly camping, the outside windshield covers that wrap around and cover the windows on the front doors are ideal, because sun doesn't have a chance to access the glass, that will help keep the heat out. There are companies that make these outer covers specifically for your van.
