China is one of the safest country in the world for traveling. Use to have pick pocket in the 1990 and earlier 2000 but now is so safe. Some westerner just bash China for no reason, you can disagree with their political system but you cannot deny their achievement in development. No one country achieve all this in 30 years. Life was difficult then, and Chinese people simply couldn't see reasons to be cheerful about. Now it is no longer so because their circumstances have improved drastically. I am a Chinese, I want to remind you. As more and more foreign tourists come to China, such scams may become more popular. One person takes the initiative to chat with you, making you think you have made friend. In the end, he/she will sell you some tea, local specialties, or other products, usually at a higher price than usual. Or recommend you to participate in a paid travel activity, but it may not be worth it. In some tourist attractions, some actors may warmly invite you to participate in activities, such as folk wedding performance, let you perform as the groom, and after everything is completed, they will ask you for money, but this situation is rare in formal attractions. I have seen some vloggers and comments say that the Chinese people are friendly. If you accept this idea, you may become victim of such scam. Good luck.

Most of Chinese don't speak English so if you only speak English it's a bit difficult to travel alone in China. Also China has a lot of people so not only it's crowded but there are very good people and very bad people. Be careful while enjoying your trip.

Be a real visitor. Don't do the currency exchange think, as you would upon arrival at any new country. In China, you just just We Chat Pay or Ali Pay, and that will take care of your needs in transportation, hotel, sightseeing entry fees, restaurants. and pretty much everything else you can think of. Even buying street food, getting a snack off a street vendor, you just have to flash your phone. Enjoy your trip!
