This looks so good! We just bought a house and are wanting to do a covered wrap-around just like this (except around the whole house). Our new house is out in the country so our outside area is just as important as the inside to us. We're on a little over an acre and surrounded by farms and cows and horses. We close on the house next week!! Our first home purchase!! In TX.

I put standing seam on my pergola too, it was less expensive than the clear plastic panels. BUT, I put sheets of coroplast under them to give a small thermal break. Insulation sheets are ugly and will weather over time but the plastic will hold up. And there’s very little feeling of heat radiating down.

Sorry, I love DIY folks but you guys did not do the correct research before starting. You can’t be disappointed if you jump into something without knowing consequences. It looks very neat but I know you struggled in order to avoid demo-ing, you improvised. But you followed through. Amen for that! Great ending, from a fellow DIY l.
@TheHandyCreators Жыл бұрын
No matter how much research a person does, there is still room for error. The goal of a DIYer is to figure it out. Of course we did not demo the area because we had some hiccups, why would we destroy an area and thousands of dollars when there are other solutions? Yes, we figured it out, because that’s what we do. Not only did we do our research, we ordered various options and reached out to the vendor. We would always recommend to any of our viewers to “figure it out/improvise” if something does not come out as they planned or expected. We get through the obstacles, not let them defeat us. Thanks for your feedback and we wish you great success on your projects!

@TheHandyCreators Жыл бұрын
Just installing the metal pergola was about 1,200. Building the pergola cost us about another 1,000
@alfredxavier5880 Жыл бұрын
I never really cared for pergolas cause it doesn’t provide much cover for the elements and the stuff they have to cover isn’t very well made materials unless it’s a roof. I prefer a gazebo but as far as the back patio design of this I think the metal roof panels are best. I never was a fan of metal roofs but it’s grown on me and never say never. Metal roofing lasts much longer and when it’s time to get new roofing at least you can scrap the metal unlike roofing shingles.
@TheHandyCreators Жыл бұрын
Good thing there are many options of roofing out there for every persons needs. We thought the shades were the best fit for us, but not since we have the metal roof we couldn’t imagine it any other way. Our does not get hot whatsoever. Maybe it has to do with the height of it also. We are truly happy with the overeat look and feel for this area.
