FINALLY! My own SUPER 8 DiY Film Scanner

This is a short video showing my own build #Super8 mm film scanner. The motion control part is based of an #Arduino . I also used a NEMA17 and a NEMA23 stepper motor with 2x Easydrivers. I also had to build a working shutter release cable using a 2.2k, 3k and a 36k resistor to be able to trigger the #Panasonic GH5s.

If you have a mirrorless camera this is good. However, a DSLR camera would cause wear and tear on the mechanism when you take thousands of still images.

Why is it so slow? This looks like it's only doing around 1fps. Can't you speed it up so it can do a few frames per second?

It looks like he's using the mechanical shutter on the camera too, that lad ain't gonna last.
