In fact, one character in Bastard (Gara) inspired the looks of Guts from Berserk. Bastard is a post-apocalyptic medieval fantasy adventure that took place in the future after Earth was decimated. And, yes, in terms of tone, Bastard is lighter than Berserk. In fact, Bastard is a lot more comedic. The chemistry between the main pair actually inspired the Inuyasha manganime.

If you want something like High school DxD I would recommend Seikon no easier, Freezing and Ikkitousen Op and ED. 1. They are really echi. 2. Songs are pretty good, rock, electro music.

It's a mix of DnD and 80s Heavy Metal. Doesnt even shy away on naming Metal bands with the worlds locations or their attacks. It was a factor in inspiring the character Guts in Berserk.

@@dagonofthedepths Bastard!! took inspiration from DnD and 80s metal. One of the characters in Bastard!! influenced some aspect of Guts design and personality; Which wouldn't really affect much of the planned plot anyways, when Berserk serialized a year later.

@@Daigon95 I don't know, I question it because I never heard of that sort of inspiration before and it's the internet where rumor is over fact. I heard him being inspired by t Kōji Mori, and Rutger Hauer, and a lot of his design was inspired by Dororo and Fist of the North Star. But I never heard of Bastard!! in that conversation. Also, characterization is pretty heavily plot driven in Berserk so minor changes do have ramifications. Also, if you're talking about Gara, then I really doubt it. He didn't show up until volume 9. Which was 1990.

I am so glad you reacted to this ending song. I think you will like the song "in to the sky" by Tielle, who sings this song. And the original BASTARD manga, which began serialisation more than 30 years ago and remains unfinished, is legendary in Japan. It is a dark fantasy that was one of the extreme even at the time, but has a charm all its own.

Now this is something that not a lot of ppl overlooked for a simple reason. Netflix. Several shows are "claimed" by services like this one and they are delayed for 3-months and are out for binge-watching the next season. Meanwhile, Japan has them on their tv-program/schedule and many people tend to "pirate" them and have fansubs to watch while they air. I think Bleach was about to have the same treatment buuuut since it is such a popular show it didn't and there was simul(taneous)-release worldwide. Needless to say, there are some underrated shows or even movies that get swept under the rag because people tend to watch the hot trending episode of a seasonal anime instead of binge-watching the shows. As for this show, since I have read the source material(really late 80s early 90s from what I can remember), I can only say this. It definitely has the 90s feel of the series of that time. Something similar, but way less cheeky, could be: - "Flame of Recca" - "Ushio & Tora". This one also got a remake fairly recently, since it had the original adaptation mid-90s. - "Magic Knight Rayearth". Now this one is a really well known anime for older ppl like myself and I would like to recommend it even more but ppl tend to avoid it because it is arguably old. - Last but not least. "Tsubasa:Reservoir Chronicle" . Now this one is a manga that got adapted mid to late 00s buuut sadly the anime stopped airing because the anime adaptation started to have completely different storyline from the manga and the manga-ka(the author of the manga) was dissatisfied by it. Putting those behind the scenes drama, the OPs and especially the OST from this one are PHENOMENAL. Everyone that has seen this one knows of "a song of storm and fire" by " 梶浦由記 / Yuki Kajiura Official " . And of course I am sure I was not the only one that thought this was the continuation of "Cardcaptor Sakura" when they saw the pair of MCs, right?

You should definitely check it out; the story is good, though not amazing, and the fight scenes can be both amazing and funny, it's cheeky but not to the point that would've to be Patreon only and the anime itself has also A LOT of references to metal bands/musicians/singers and it's always so good getting to notice them EDIT: a bonus thing I thought of afterwards, the protagonist is voiced in japanese by the same VA of Jean from Attack on Titan

If you are looking for a mainstream anime with some "naughty" openings, you might want to check Cutie Honey all versions there is the 1970s original "Cutie Honey" the sequel series "Shin Cutie Honey" (also known as "New Cutie Honey") the 1990s remake "Cutie Honey Flash" the 2000s re-imagining "Re: Cutie Honey" and the 2010s remake "Cutie Honey Universe" each version only has one opening, and most of them are on the naughty side of things each opening is also a perfect little vignette of the decade it was made in

Bastard is called "heavy metal fantasy" and that's basically it. Lots of music / band references... the overall tone is kind of like Eminence in Shadow, a mix of drama and comedy with a lot of attractive women and a ripped guy.

It's true to the extreme. Often the viewer will run into scenes where nearly every word is a reference to something in heavy metal music. The manga creator did it as a sort of love letter to the whole art form.

Bastard!! is an 1988 manga series that I believe inspired the looks of Guilty Gear. It is just this whole punk metal vibe and yes, the show is extremely cheeky. The netflix remake is tamer though. There is an old OVA series that does have nudity and more explicit. The manga is still going but it is on a crazy long hiatus since 2010. The new anime might just get an anime original ending or leave it open if and when the manga is back. The entire series is what I call trashy fun. It goes by the rule of cool for crazy violence and fanservice. It is fairly enjoyable.

I've not watched this show and I only heard of it when I saw the anime announcement but it's apparently a pretty popular old manga which already had an anime adaptation way back in the day. It was short though but this one you watched are from the new series which aired recently. I think it'd be worth watching cause it's popular enough to gain another adaptation that a lot of people (especially it's fans) were anticipating. I've recommended this before but the OP/EDs for Inuyasha, Digimon, and Yugioh Duel Monsters (+ season 0 if you're interested). Also, you watch game OPs? There are a lot of good anime-like OPs for some rpgs and I recommend Tales series, Rune Factory series, and Summon Nights series.

Day 128 of recommending the Beyblade openings. There are the Japanese ones and the English ones. The English version has one opening for a generation, and that for the 1st and 2nd generation. The 3rd gen has one op for one season. But the Japanese version has multiple ops for a season in any gen. You should definitely check both versions out. I made playlists on my channel, so you don't need to search, cause in those compilations are a few off and not in the correct order. Thanks for checking out!

Let's get clear: Bastard! have the most gorgeous female characters of the whole manga/anime world, period ! And the anime itself is pure catharsys of sexy and brutallity... as I often say, it's an anime to speak about at the ambassador dinner or in your lecture club alongside [any of more intellectual manga/anime], this is created to be enjoyed as pure entertainment and fantasy (but the storyline is cool too BTW....) Honestly I hadn't heard of this anime at all and I had to look it up. Was surprised it was so recent. Really great music though. I would highly recommend checking out Claymore for a show that is similar to Berserk, and has some awesome music as well. It is a pretty serious, dark, gory show that I think would be right up your alley. While nothing really can compare to Berserk, Claymore is pretty much the only show that comes anywhere close when it comes to capturing the same feeling.

Its a new adaptation of a Manga as old or even older than Berserk. The new adaptation did much more of the story as its 2 seasons (39 episodes, 24 in first and 15 in second) while the old adaptation from the 90s did only 6 episodes. Also its considered a Heavy Metal Fantasy. Also yes there are anime with endings and openings as Higschool DxD with the girls being shown fully nude, though with no niples in TV versions, dont ask censorship reasons, their restored in BD.

Bastard is post-apocalyptic medieval fantasy, as in modern society completely collapsed and is currently in a medieval-esque development level. So it looks like traditional fantasy, but also has some "modern" elements that survived the collapse pop up here and there, things like jean pants, old computers and old (present day) ruins. Don't worry, it's not really a spoiler. They go over this in the first couple minutes of the show.

I've only had the chance to check out the 1st season shortly after it came out. I was skeptical about wether I wanted to watch it but I had nothing else I felt like viewing. It's amusing & a bit provocative at times. Yet it's a pretty fun watch. When I finished the season I wanted more cause it felt like it left off on a hanger. Glad after while the next season was announced & released. Just gotta find time to watch while catching up to other anime I'm behind on.

Not really a spoiler because its the first thing that is mentioned on the first episode, you saw the modern looking buildings but this anime is not an Isekai, but a post apocaliptic story where the world was so messed up that it reverted back to the middle ages with knowledge of the old world mostly lost. Also the manga is legendary the art is amazing, and if I remember correctly is older than Berserk, the creator of the Guilty Gear games used the manga as inspiration for the gulty gear series

There can be several reasons why people didn't recommend it. It's an anime on Netflix, so some people didn't hear about its existence. Another reason some people were turned off and dropped it, because it's not for everyone, but I enjoyed it. It's not a 10/10 master piece, but ignoring the silly stuff I thought the world and magic system was somehow interesting to me. I heard stuff like, it was meant to be a Berserk parody, but I'm not sure, I know both and I don't really see what the parody should be here. Another reason why no one is recommending it and what I experienced while watching other reactors was, that they saw the "NSFW" thingy and the "physics", most of the time they were afraid of getting demonetized or banned for showing nsfw stuff. And not to ignore the title, it's literally an insult for todays standards, so writing this word in twitch chat could trigger the automod or in general a filter system. I know that you can be creative to outplay the filters, but they get more and more intelligent, so that they even recognize leet, typos and special characters. The more you change the word to outplay the filter, the higher the chance that the reactor can't read or recognize the word or title.

I've listened to the first opening and ending song so much and never get tired of it. There is a 2 year time skip after the first season and the beginning of season 2. Their are references everywhere in the series from names and spells 😉Pfff, when I was watching the series with my husband he was laughing so hard because the "naked man," who's name is Dark Schneider, reminded him so much of himself when he was in high school 🤣 Fun fact, this is a remake of the 80's ova/mini series which was only 6 episodes.

Gonna note if you ever decide to watch it that this is one of those anime based off a manga that isn't even halfway through the manga storyline in the manga if I'm right. As for the comparison to Berserk I will say Bastard is closer to it in regards to gore but as far as sexualization related content it's a bit more tame.

It's fun to watch. I have the idea that the previous version (1992) was darker (can't remember much), and this one is funnier. Definitely not FMA/FMAB, also don't think is a good one to react to. But as mentioned, I feel is fun to watch, specially if you like 80's 90's rock

Bastard is worth watching! The current series is a remake of an older version with better music and production (the old one was good, but the new one does everything the old one did and more) Well-regarded anime that aren't hentai but have rather cheeky openings like High School DxD: Shinmai Maou No Testament - this is every bit the equal of High School DxD, has several seasons, and very much in the same spirit and genre Elfen Lied (truly awesome and legendary) Cross Ange (great anime, too! Pretty girls ride dragon mecha), High School of the Dead Dangazir III (great song, and visual from the original king of anime jiggle physics, Masami Obari (see also Fatal Fury, etc.) Dance in the Vampire Bund (very controversial) Maps (a mostly forgotten 90s space opera anime with an awesome song and cheeky OP) Qwaser of Stigmata (the OP is decent but a bit tame, but the ED is High School DxD level, and the content a bit naughtier) There are also anime where the op is tame but the ED is naughty, e.g. Killing Bites and anime that are just as naughty as High School DxD but have relatively tame OPs, such as the legendary To Luv Ru Darkness. and Redo of Healer (darker and edgier than Berserk, if not as well done) and lots more.
