I feel like there should be a word or phrase for when a new route gets put up right in the middle of another and completely breaks it. Best I've been able to come up with is 'getting rock-blocked' 🤷♂
@projecteer44982 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it’s super interesting seeing that happening here. At my home gym (and all the gyms in the city) they just reset a wall or two once or twice a week and replace all the climbs on that wall. The wall is closed for the day (normally during non-busy hours or while the gym is closed) and when it’s back open all the problems are new. So when the climbs are getting forerunning, all the holds are there and that issue doesn’t arise. Occasionally a set will take a bit longer and they’ll open it in the middle of the process, but that’s just one or two days max that have some slightly different movements in them from the other holds before they finish setting.
@wellbornyouth2 жыл бұрын
@@projecteer4498 Oh that's an interesting approach. It makes a lot of sense though! With the exception of the comp wall, my local gyms tend to having rotating colour system. So all the White hold climbs will come down for a couple of days and be reset, for example. Then next week all the Greens. But those climbs will be scattered throughout whole gym.

@@projecteer4498 This is actually how it works at HarrowWall (where he is in this vid) with the exception of the purple project climbs.

That's also how it works in France/Paris: they always redo an entire area/profile at once. I think it usually takes them 1-3 hrs.
@bonobo21812 жыл бұрын
@@projecteer4498 As I understand it, the project climbs stay up for longer as they typically take much longer to solve. The rest of the wall gets reset in one go as you describe

So awesome to see "the real" side of climbing, the many failures that make up the sends when they do finally happen. The frustration of not sending pushes me to work harder....but most importantly, smarter rather than harder.
