It is nice to turn the engine into any position. I don't know if anything like it is available today, but if it is, it's likely not cheap!

Very good, I built mine recently, same components except forged pistons and steel main caps on 2 and 3. I was able to use my larger factory main caps with arp studs on 1 and 4. I just have a factory flywheel as it is all I had, 20 pounds… but I plan to change this in the future.. I had larger valves installed and we flow benched the head, I’m running yellow terra roller rockers and custom length/stronger pushrods with the shorter/lighter followers.. the cam and head were designed together to give amazing torque as I use the car for dirt rallies, I get about 140 ft/lb at 4100 and 140hp at 5400… running twin SUs.. my extractors are a bit long.. I also have a close ratio gearbox… I sooo love my engine :)

My last engine was close to what this one will be, and my BGT only weighs in at 2100 lbs, so I enjoyed it. I’ve been running an almost stock used engine I had laying around just to have it running, and I really miss having a bit more.

I hope you have a better one than I have. Mine is a cheapie that bought for other reasons where accuracy wasn’t terribly important 😁

I noticed you stand your crankshaft on their ends rather than laying them on their side. Is there a reason? I would be worried about them getting knocked over.
@mgbgtguy Жыл бұрын
Yes, I was taught to always store them that way and never lay them down. You have to take precautions to not knock them over though. You can do a search for why and find lots of articles about it, but basically they can deflect a bit and no longer be straight if stored on their side without proper support in the middle to insure they stay straight.

ARP dose make the 5 main bolt kit part number 205-5002
@mgbgtguy Жыл бұрын
Nothing shows on their website, and nothing found on the part number your giving (either on the ARP site, or google search) Maybe they had them at one time, but appears they don’t anymore. They only list 3 main stud kit and 5 main stud kit ( i already have) but no listing for 5 main bolt kit. ☹️

@@mgbgtguy i mad a mistake the part number is 206-5002
@mgbgtguy Жыл бұрын
Funny, the ARP website won’t come up with it if you look it up by application. But that part number is good 👍🏻 and description says MGB 5 main bolt kit. Thanks

Yea! Race engine build time.

It’s taken long enough since you and I pulled it out hasn’t it? You will have to come over to take it for a drive sometime after it’s up and running
