I feel like they didn't do a "lifestyle" trailer because with the original Switch, they needed to describe what the Switch concept can do, and all the capabilities of the console. With the Switch 2, we already know what the Switch can do, so they didn't need to do the same type of trailer.

The Joy-Con mouse controls are CLASSIC "Thing I Didn't Know I Wanted Until I Saw It" Nintendo. This will be a game-changer for Animal Crossing, Mario Maker, Pikmin, Splatoon (not to mention whatever weird new IP they're probably cooking up to take full advantage of it). Love, love, love it!!!

Having the USB-C port on the top and bottom is awesome, charging it underneath was sort of a pain and returns to the handheld concept, very excited and we knew backwards compatibility but it finally has been revealed

There is not confirmation that the top USB-C is enabled for charging. It could be an accessory port for peripherals. April Direct will hopefully clear everything up.

If they didn't want you to plug in a charger there then it would've been a proprietary charger instead. Not to mention that any accessory that plugs in there would need electricity to work, in which case the usb port would need to do power.

The fact that it's just "Switch 2" is actually unprecedented for Nintendo. They've always done things like Super Nintendo, Gameboy Color, Advance, "new" 3DS. Really happy to see "mouse" integration. Things like Rollercoaster Tycoon and RTS games on the Switch really needed this. Also would've LOVED this when playing Metroid Prime Remastered (maybe on Metroid Prime 4?!) Let's hope for a Mario Maker 3, with ease of use like the original (And Mario Paint 2, or a full Mario Artist series release!)

The cables when the joycons slide together are indeed the joycon straps, and their design completes the mousecon theory. Seems like, in this case, the straps are designed to not use the SL and SR buttons.

In case you haven't already realized, the JoyCon straps don't attach magnetically. In fact, the center of the part of the strap that fits around the rail is just one long hole, so the top of the JoyCon rail is fully exposed, and you're pressing the SR and SL buttons directly. The straps attach with a mechanical latch along the perimeter.

The reason why Nintendo have been so successful in the hybrid market is they understand how to make smaller, cheaper scale games which allows them to put something out every month [normally coupled together with a well known IP]. Joining the Home Console Teams with the Portable Teams was the best thing they’ve done. With Mouse controls we might get more DS style games or ports which is exciting.

You guys forget Nintendo's mainline Mario Kart Wallpaper already showed that the next one is Mario Kart 12. They put Deluxe as separate from 8 Deluxe, so that was 9, Tour was 10, and the BCP was 11. You might not like it like how people hate Nintendo's official Zelda timeline, but that's where Nintendo landed on it. So the Arcade games and Home Circuit are the only ones that don't count.

One of the more interesting things to me is that the ABXY buttons aren't colored on the Switch 2, at least on the seemingly default controllers. With all the games recently having colored button icons like in them, like TTYD remake, I really thought the new console would have color coordinated buttons. Not even the lettering in the buttons is colored like the New 3DS XL either. But I do think they will have different colors for joycons, the first Switch reveal trailer only showed the grey console and controllers. The red/blue weren’t shown until the Jan presentation. Also, the timeframe is actually shorter from this reveal to it's software Direct than the original Switch to it's software presentation. That one was a 12 week gap and this is an 11 week gap. I honestly think they probably wouldn't have released this first reveal trailer so soon if it hadn't been leaked so much.

I feel like this reveal was more an answer to the leaks than actually to bring hype. I also agree that the reason we haven’t seen the pro controller is probably cause of a headphone jack, but tbh it worries me that that’s something they’re holding off for a big reveal about. It’s been an industry standard for how long? And their previous 2 gens did have voice chat so 7 years later it’s just a weird omission on switch. I just get the feeling it’s gonna be a big highlight for Nintendo and most of the gaming community will just be like, why is that a big deal?

That's so funny when you were talking about whether this new Mario Kart is 9 or 10. I wasn't even thinking of Tour! I thought you were referring to 8 Deluxe being the technical 9 due to how much new stuff got added to it over time! If ya wanna get REAL technical, this would be Mario Kart 11 since we got both Tour AND Home Circuit released after 8! I can't get over how bizarre the timing of this DK re-design is. They reveal it on the exact same day they release a new Donkey Kong game that uses DK's current design. And this console is likely gonna be launching at around the same time of the DK expansion at Super Nintendo World, which ALSO uses the classic DK design! That's a WHOLE lotta Donkey Kong merch that'll become outdated real quick if they're really gonna be re-designing him right here and now. Part of me is trying to convince myself that it's actually a modernized Donkey Kong Jr. design, but I doubt that's actually true. Very exciting time to be a Nintendo fan! I'm so happy that the Switch 2 will be backwards compatible with all* physical, digital, and NSO titles. At this point, my one and only wish for this new console is to PLEASE not have any joy-con drift! I beg of you.
