Finally Taking A Half Slice Down The Upper Yough

Finally got my hands on a Ripper 2 a few months back thanks to my friend Jonathan Arias, and I've gotten my act together and started taking it down the Upper Yough! This is my 3rd run down in the Ripper, my Gopro helmet mount was broken my first and second time down, so I didn't get them unfortunately.

Yeah I saw you guys up there! Sorry I didn't have time to get out and say hello, my group was moving on quickly. Appreciate the kind words, I don't know how great I looked messing up the National boof and getting destroyed, but I still appreciate it! Lmfao

Cool video, I never got to see those rapids so clearly. That boat looks like it kept you on edge more than not, but it looks like it has good secondary stability? Must be a pretty rounded out hull. Would love to try one.

Hey man, thanks for the kind words! Yeah I was really surprised by how stable the Ripper 2 medium is on the Upper. I had a really bad experience in a medium Dagger Mamba about 3 years before this, as well as a hike out at high water after getting trashed by Little Niagara in my Waka around the 3 foot mark, so I was really apprehensive about taking down a half slice down the Upper at first. I was amazed at how well the half slice handled it. I've taken it down about 6 times now, with only 3 flips total and no swims, like the one you saw in this video after I botched the National boof... I've been super pleased though with how it handles. Of course it's a little less stable than a creeker, especially in really boily sections like the eddy under Heinzerling, but the extra maneuverability and responsiveness you get in a half slice more then makes up for that. I'm at the point now where I honestly don't see myself taking a creeker down the Upper Yough again for awhile, or unless I'm letting someone else try my Ripper (and that offer applies to you as well if you want to try it one of these times) Either way though, thanks for watching, and the Ripper 2 kicks ass on the Upper, and you should try it for sure at some point!
