How about you try a different cab than this one? I am sure you have a mesa oversize. Ola had used one and the raspiness you experienced, I did not hear in his video. I have a feeling that the speaker combo you chose does not work, the redback is notoriously fizzy and icepicky as a cone, and you'd be likely better with just V30's or Greenbacks. Good luck, brother!
@redeyeddogproductions42227 ай бұрын

@@germanomosconi392 Appreciate the feedback. I would, however, urge you to go back and watch Olas video again. I very much hear the raspiness in the gain structure on his video, clear as day actually. As far as red backs, fizzy? Maybe a little yes, much like a greenback. But icepicky? I have those speakers in 3 different cabs and dark/smooth are the words that come to mind. This Splawn cab was actually overly bright with only v30s in it as it's a very stiff cab, and the redbacks smoothed it out a good bit. I will of course be checking it out through other cabs and speakers before making any sort of determination, but I really don't think it's the cab. I'll be putting up the full playthrough in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

@@belligerentamateur Hey....thanks for the reply. I went to listen once again to the Ola video, and although I do agree about the raspiness with you, my ears still hear a little icepicky frequency that I don't hear on Ola's video. Mind you, with that I am not saying that I am right or you're wrong, at all. I also have a feeling that it could also be because of the mic type used and their positioning. I would not be surprised if there was further tinkering on it, since contrary to you a lot of times his setup is more elaborated and processed. Looking forward to hear further experimentation from your side. Take care, my man!

Yeah man I was disappointing too. Long story short : I've had this amp for a month or two and sold it a few weeks ago because: - There's a big change in volume going from the Lo gain mode to the Hi gain one that I HATED. The amp should’ve had a separate gain and volume knob for the Hi mode, like the concentric knobs of the EVH 5150 III 50w. - Channel 2 on high gain mode with gain at like 11am has almost way too much gain imho (becomes really buzzy/fuzzy fast). - Couldn't get a good clean tone from Channel 1 on Lo gain mode without compromising the Hi one. - Coudn't get a good crunch/rhythm tone from channel 2 on Lo gain mode without compromising the Hi one. - A bit too scooped for me overall. not enough high mids. The EQ doesn't have a lot of range. I still really enjoyed channel 2 on Hi mode with the gain at like 9am, but that's it. It's a shame because the noise gate works super well it's a lightweight amp. It was too much compromising for me personally. Channel 1 on Hi mode was a bit tubby for my taste too.

And knowing this is a high-gain amp I was still surprised by how poor the clean tones were, really couldn't get one at all. Looking at your settings, like me, I see you have the channel volumes relatively low and the master volume set higher. Once I cranked up the channel volume and turned down the master (to a reasonable home volume level) the amp sound improved exponentially across the board. Cleans sounded as expected, the high-gain tones weren't as tubby. I did not use a boost, would be curious as to what you come up with turning up the channel volume AND utilizing a boost.

MXR 10-band EQ in the loop. Problem solved.
@Artificial_Ghost7 ай бұрын
No other way to describe it than being extremely underwhelming, thru diff cabs, active/passive pickups diff boosts I threw everything at it and it just didn’t sound nearly as good as my stealth archon or beat up old 5150iii mkI. I don’t think they should be marketing this as a “‘modern high gain” amp built for modern metal. It’s anything but that. I got rid of mine after like 2 weeks. Out of the box the gate didn’t work, no matter how I dialed it in, even with the presence being pushed to the brink it was so heavy on the low end and flubby sounding it was essentially unusable. For example I don’t turn the gain up more than a hair past noon on the blue channel on my stealth and on the Lynx I had it (along w the presence) pushed Almost all the way and it still sounded like it had a wet blanket over it. Ola must have gotten a diamond in the Ruff as there isn’t a single other review, good or bad, that sounded anything like the one he demoed. 10 band eq didn’t do the job. Sd-1, Khdk ghoul screamer, and If my Fortin ts-9 couldn’t get it there, then nothing is gonna get it into “modern high gain” territory. There are so many Better amps out there for the money. (imo). I really thought this would be the one, the one to dethrone my years of playing 5150’s and 6505’s. But it fell short at every turn. But to each they’re own. What doesn’t work for me maybe exactly what your looking for so I don’t wanna turn one off from buying anything (I think there’s to much of that toxicity going on In our little niche of music already) I’ll just say temper your expectations when it comes to purchasing one of these and if you do, make sure you have a return policy in place. This is deff not an amp you should just blindly buy as (again personal experience) it was not what I expected on many levels. Also if it matters to you, it doesn’t have a dedicated clean channel. Cleans can easily be achieved by lowering the gain and boosting the volume but you may find yourself having to adjust the eq from one setting to the next. Like if you prefer the gain setting on the first channel as your go to dirty channel you’ll be stuck making adjustments on the fly. I was Thoroughly disappointed with this amp maybe I had to high of expectations and it was an influenced purchase largely from word of mouth and the tones Ola was getting out of it but I threw everything I had at it and it still didn’t hold a candle to my stealth or even the archon which is much less brand new. Long and short of it is if your looking for a modern high gain amp, geared toward metal, save your money and look elsewhere (personal opinion) hopefully others have better luck with theyres if they so choose to buy one. But this is a more accurate depiction of the amp than Olas video. The matching cab comes loaded w v30’s, I found it better suited to my Hesu cab w demon speakers. Highly recommend checking out they’re cabs/speakers. They’re affordable, durable highest quality build I’ve seen in a long time and much more modern sounding (just my two cents But my Hesu cab which costed maybe $750 including being shipped from Europe and far better than. My Marshall w v30’s and ENGl cab, And I’m no one to brag about the gear I own or how much it costs I find that to be off putting and compensating and I’m sure you’ll find very mixed reviews as to they’re demon speakers. But if your looking for an essentially modernized take on the old v30 ,it’s t a great place to look. Even with shipping from Europe it costed me less than the orange cab I was originally going to buy., locally. Its a great place to look if your looking for modern articulate high gain tones and does the clean thing very well. Deff don’t sleep on them if your in the market for a new cab or speaker. It replaced my ENGL 2x12 almost immediately. Lighter, better build and the demon speakers just the👨🍳 😘 the cost/quality ratio is the best I’ve seen or heard in a veryyy long time. Please, no more room mics unless you're mixing them with the direct. Lol never understood why people like in the room videos of amps. It's so colored by the mic being used, and you're not feeling the room. Which is what In the room really is anyway.

Interesting you would think you'd get more clicks if people didn't know it was a Bad Cat amp.

I didn’t like your sound either. I think I could have gotten a better sound and I’m not a guitar player.

This is not a metal amp. How much are you getting paid for this advertisement?

10:32 i think i know what you mean. to my ears the 311 guitar tone sounds like what you described--i hate that tone. they play mesa boogie, i think.
