This tutorial is broken down into easy to understand sections so that you can finally understand the intricacies of this analog synth without having to read the manual. In the video I'll go over useful topics so that you will have a good grasp of how to use the Korg Volca Bass and what is possible with it once you've watched the whole thing.
In the video I'll demonstrate how to:
-Synthesize a sound with the Voltage Control Oscillator, Envelope Generator, and Voltage Control Filter
-Create a sequence, and use the VCO Groups
-Work with Low Frequency Oscillators
-Experiment with Slide Edit, and Active Step
-Demo FX and a simple drum pattern
Are you convinced?! Purchase your Korg Volca Bass by clicking the link below:

The bass has lots of power hidden beneath a really simple surface. I love that you can sequence each DCO separately, thus tripling the number of potential onboard sequencer memory slots. If you mute/unmute the oscillators as a sequence plays you can switch melodies or basslines within a track without having to use those precious additional memory slots, which is great for live sets.

FYI to all Volca owners. The Korg power adapter is rated at 1.7 Ah. Each Volca draws around .35 Ah. So you can actually power 3 or 4 Volcas in a rack patch into Korg's original power adapter. I ran leads from the battery compartment underneath to keep things tidy in the custom volca stand.

The reason I got one of these in this was more to use it as a ribbon controlled similar to the ribbons on the old Yamaha CS units and some of their Electronic Organs built around the same time. For a time I played one of these in a Blues-Rock band called Trickki Vickki and the Mississippi Leg Hounds Occasionally Vikki would get a little bit too "Diva-Liie" and I would respond by using the portamento strip to make what she disparagingly called "Toilet Sounds" as a reaction!

The more I watch videos on these the more I hear this distinct and different sound from the TD-3 +++ 3 oscillators(may have to get one of these as bass #2 (~_~))

Firstly let me congratulate you on a super tutorial. I just ordered one to go with my volca sample. Secondly your voice should be for hire if it isn’t already. I’m in the UK but have visited 14 states in the USA and I’m still not very good at identifying accents (you could of course be Canadian but I think I’d spot that). There is so much quality in diction, inflection, intonation and all round delight. So where does the voice and accent hail from please? Many thanks. Cheers. Lee
