Pushing an aircraft to its mechanical limits is much different than the speeds they post that a pilot can handle physically while going in a straight line. The G pull at 5k? you'd have to be up near the space station at those speeds just so the drag resistance doesn't stop your blood from pumping. Also for reference, 5000 mph is roughly mach 6.75.
@Richard-k2v4oКүн бұрын
@@codycastresana7506 You need to look at the Science. Rockets have to go in excess of 24,000 MPH to escape the earths gravity. Astronauts survive it. With the new crafts that Lookheed has developed they produce a plasma bubble around the craft so gravity does not come into play.

a friend who knew a friend who was sr71 ground crew said he accidentally saw a note by a pilot that accidentally left: mach 5. these are underreported. i myself saw a plan in the 90s when i worked for a year on a graveyard shift late winter night. i was watching commercial airliners taking turns by going out to the Cook Inlet approach flying over the Chugach Alaska Range behind Anchorage Alaska. i noticed a triangle afterburner sputtering along the other direction. that is strange i told myself that is strange. then it developed a large flame behind it, and literally within a snap of a finger, it streaked across the clear dark sky. i did not hear a booming sound, was just quiet. heard of the Aurora Spy plane, and wondered to this day what kind of a plane it was. i asked a science teacher about it the next dayt, and if it was high above, it would to travel like 70k mph, thinking if it was in the stratosphere (earths outer later) because i did not hear any booming sound many speculators say about hypersonic missiles/vehicles. but. i always wish we average humans could enjoy the benefit of travel globally to only fly in an hour, two or few hours to travel long distances.

The TRUE top speed of the SR-71 is STILL Classified. It set all of it's records under carefully controlled flights. I worked on them and they were very special, but finicky aircraft, that required a lot more work for every hour they flew usually 3 to 5 hours more. As for next gen, that's still classified as well. They actually started working on an SR replacement back before desert storm times. But nothing was even close to the tech needed. Most of what is said is conjecture. Because those who really know are sworn to secrecy, just like I was (and am) for many items that do and don't exist, both then and now.

They were high altitude planes, the term "Stealth" wasn't coined until years later. There are several books out there about Project Oxcart.
