For your deductible look into Chiropractor. I use it a lot. A) Because it really help me and keep the body in good maintenance especially combined with PT. B) For a few trip with a small copay ($40), they usually eat up my deductible as they bill the Insurance. After a few trips my deductible is wiped out. After the deductible is met then they get the rest, so it is a win- win for both. It is common in NY/NJ. Check in NC also. C) Also, in general, if you are uninsured then you don't pay the $14K, You can negotiate a much much lower price, not you can have it completely waived by talking to the Hospital.

Hi ravish, i have been following you for last 2-3 years perhaps. I love your vlogs truely.. Hi, you can ask hospital to give rebate on your emergency bill.They can give upto 50% concession on your deductible. I have avail it in the past on my wife's emergency visit.

The healthcare is expensive for sure but the care you get is prolly the best in the entire world with minimal wait times unless countries with universal healthcare. Good y'all have insurances. Cheers!

Tbh $4k per year is not that high for the entire family. I would never understand why people in the US always cry about health care. Even a minimum wage worker can keep aside 4k as deductible for insurance. I feel like people in the US just have a habit of complaining. They live a very easy privileged life. Even the cost of land in the south of the US is dirt cheap.

If you work Minimum wage then you will get Medicaid which is free or otherwise almost free subsidized insurance depending on the state.

Can you share the experience of someone who had a guest from overseas and had to use the travelers medical Insurance while in USA ? I would like to see the experience of someone who actually used that insurance . My understanding is that these travel insurances are pretty much useless and wont pay when you actually need to use them. Travelers (like Parents) coming on B2 visa to US are taking a big risk by not having good insurance

That’s right. Unless it’s a real emergency travel insurance won’t cover. Also they often don’t cover pre existing conditions. They won’t cover if you can travel back to your country and get treatment.

Not surprised with the bill at all. My guess was too less 😊!That’s the way US medical industry works unfortunately. Without insurance you are totally screwed! I know of someone close who takes a shot for a condition every 8 weeks and each shot costs $55 k, yes fifty five k. Insurance pays “discounted” rate of 21k, every 8 weeks. Soch ke dekho. That’s the reason US pharma industry does most of the innovation and most new drugs come out of US. The cost is paid by US consumers but the rest of the world enjoys benefits. Companies spend millions on research to kahin se to paisa wasool karna hai.

Say what you may, most innovation comes out of US. If this model was bad the results would speak for themselves. And anytime you involve govt., it’s a model for corruption and inefficiency. Why would companies care if govt funds them. It’s the return on investment that pushes companies to innovate. Most people do not get that, but the rest of the world is far far behind US in innovation.

Yes generics are when a patented medicine loses the patent. Where do you think the generics came from magically ? They were also first needed to be discovered. Also don’t confuse copying for innovation. Apple invented the smartphone, Samsung and others copied it and made it better as some will argue. For EV, Tesla were the leaders and Chinese are copying. They are good at copying, as it doesn’t take much risk. Give credit where credit is due. The plane, the car, the internet, the PC, the smartphone are some of the examples of US innovation.
