The author might find it interesting that ZF was in partnership with Sachs and responsible for the early development of that motor which originally went into the austrian bike company, NOX . i bought one of these bikes about five years ago and am very pleased with it . the sachs, is now owned by the German battery company BMZ . it has 112 nm . the power is available at RPMs as low as 40 to 60 and it does NOT overheat even on long steep runs in turbo. the inventor of the motor said his main objective was to minimize heat build up at low RPMs . The torque was an accident of sorts . i also have a bosch CX and have tested both motors on the same log hill. the Sachs/BMZ destroyed the Bosch and was only slightly warm at the top . it never took off in the market although several scandinavian bikes use it. It should be noted that nox and ZF were not pro active in lending their bikes out for testing which i think was a mistake

"They , TQ " ? i have the nox with the Sachs motor for about five years and as i said it has never overheated even in a high assist mode and a low rpm . i can't attest to the TQ or this new ZF

Maybe, seems like I'm the only one to have thought about it when I've tested it and actually written anything concrete down about it.... :-)

It would be very interesting to now, how the motor feels with the assistance faded out (or: turned off) Does it feel like a normal bicycle or can one feel that there are parts inside that wanted to be moved by muscle power?

It has a more metalic feel to it

Nice work Alex! Definitely interested in this brand when I move on to my next bike in a year or so. Any idea if we will be able to get this brand down in the Southern Hemisphere? (New Zealand) or is it just another brand we will never see or get?

What a pitty that they’ve made such a small compact motor and then have this massive clunky battery. As bikes like the amflow and canyon OnFly make frames that are sleeker and more traditionally mtn bike looking, this huge battery size makes that impossible.
