I'm always impressed by your footwork. You move better than your opponents in every match that I can remember. I think you are so quick on your feet that you try to run around a lot of forehands that you end up not being able to do much with instead of just hitting a backhand. You mentioned it in the video but not being able to attack on his serve really hurt you. He was just dinking some of those serves in and there was a lot of opportunity there. Thanks for the video. Always nice to see your matches.

@daraemkar Thank you so much! I appreciate the confidence boost. There's certainly a lot more room for improvement.

@@advantagetennis3459 I've seen a few vids and yes, your footwork is really nice to see. Been focusing on that aspect and it's always nice to see people who do it right!

What a solid pain in the ass opponent! That said, against these kind of players, at least you are a solid hitter, you are a candy for them. They are confortable with your pace, and still they can counter, so you have to develop other skills, like drop shots, deep slices, and going to net when opponent is unbalanced. You need to shorten the points. Great match to watch!

@gonzalolibano6505 Your on to something! I played Ulises just yesterday after posting this video. I still lost 5-7 2-4 (we cut the second set short), but I found hitting more slices forced him to create his own power, and I was getting a lot more free points that way.

I agree with the drop shots

You're clearly the better player. I love how smooth you play, man! Good technique, great footwork, decent strokes, solid serve. I think your opponent IS a pusher (especially considering his UTR rating). He plays like one 70% of the time. It's very frustrating to face pushers. Definitively a mental battle. When playing these kind of players, I believe aggression is key. It's high-risk tennis, but it pays off. Go for flat bombs, go for winners when the balls sits in the middle of the court, go up to the net when you can, and so on. Did you always have trouble with volleys? Or just this particular match? There were a lot of easy opportunities that could've translated to free points. It's something to look into.

@pedrox98 Thanks for your comment! I have had issues with my volleys and overheads in the past. They are improving a lot, but in this particular match, they were horrible. My approach shots weren't the best, so I had to do something special to win points with the volleys, and it wasn't working out. My overheads I was simply whiffing in this match.

Frustrating opponent, that's all I can say. I can relate to the blood boiling episodes when your opponent does the fist pump or says lesgo. I can't offer much as you are definitely a better player than me but I feel like drop shots and then a body shot in the face would be perfect for this type of frustrating opponent.

@Winterymint0521 No face targeting. Lol! Fist pumps and Let's goes are cool with me. Though, celebrating every time I miss got under my skin quickly. It's all part of the mental game. I got to do better at not letting stuff like that get to me.

Ulises doesn’t look at all like an 8.7 UTR. All of his swings are flat and dinks. I don’t think I saw him hit a single winner - you beat yourself in that one unfortunately. This happens to me sometimes where I play down to other peoples levels and hit lots of unforced errors.

@zachhoward1473 He's definitely unassuming, but there's no question he is a solid player.
