@@perthpongtt I used to live in Perth, many moons ago. Table tennis wasn't really a thing back then (not very popular). Glad to see it gain traction!

Very good game.

Yep! There were a few close sets. It would be possible to make a nice highlights video from this match alone. Thanks for the support.

Daiki tried too many unsuccessful chop blocks. I don't know if they were his only option in that situation, but it seems like Yonis exploited down-the-line shots. Daiki started really well, very agressive, but then he slowed down and lost the game, and it was hard to recover from that point on. Some backhand to backhand rallies, it felt like Daiki was just returning the ball waiting for Yonis to take the initiative, which he did. Very enjoyable to watch and great level.

@@Belgamor77 nice analysis! To add to that, I think Daiki got a bit discouraged after losing the first match, having had a solid opportunity to take the first set. Also very few people will win in a straight forehand to forehand rally with Yonis, so maybe Daiki tried some tricks or change of spin/pace.

@@perthpongtt I had never seen Yonis play before, but his forehand looks solid (his backhand is great as well). What is weird about his forehand is that it curves (a bit like mine and many left hand players), which makes it hard to get into a solid fh to fh rally, since making the trajectory adjustment might make your shot a bit weaker. Having said that, Daiki took at least 1 point from a fh to fh rally, which is impressive, but I still think that if instead of chop blocks he blocked wide the other way and get ready to attack Yonis return, he might have had a better chance. I think I've watched a kid's match a while ago in this venue, it sounds familiar.
