When I was getting my first car loan, the finance guy gave me one of the greatest pieces of financial advice - pay your loans on a weekly/bi-weekly basis. You save a considerable amount on ridiculous interest by paying 2-4 small payments a month versus the typical once a month because most loan interest compounds daily.

That is crazy to think about what 10 more years of savings could do for your retirement! Glad I am hearing this now as a 20 year old!
@Hdvies5 жыл бұрын
Something easy to do if you’re using debit cards is round down your account each time you make a purchase to an even amount & transfer the 50cents or couple dollars across to savings. Eg, you have $15 in the account and spend $3.40 so you round down to $10 and put $1.60 across to savings. You don’t even notice the small amounts missing but it adds up in savings. There’s also apps that do it for you.

If you are someone who touches their savings, don’t bank at one bank like Morgan. Put the savings you cannot touch at a different bank all by itself. That way when you are budgeting and managing your money, you can’t see the savings so they “don’t exist.”

Never get stuck on the idea that you have to wait until you’re 65 to retire because that’s when you can cash out on social security or 401k. Definitely research “Financial Independence/Early Retirement”. If you start young, you can set yourself to retire much younger. And by retire that could mean pursuing passion projects or a much lower paying but way more fun job.

Kudos for providing financial education to your subscribers! You may already know this but being self employed, you can open a SEP IRA, which is similar to a traditional IRA but has much higher contribution limits in event you can/want to save more. 😀

I love this! I’m the exact same age as you so I am right there with you trying to think of the future and be smart. I actually got married last year and ended up getting a chase sapphire reserve card right before the wedding, knowing I would 100% earn the extra points from how much we were spending. I ended up getting so many points I got a basically free trip to Ireland this year out of it. Timing is everything. We just bought a house, so right now I’m trying to put aside money so these saving tips were great, although I knew about them before. Sometimes you just need someone else to give you a kick in the ass 🤪 so thanks girl!!! Definitely more videos like this please!

Love this! Can you make a video about student loans and college debt and if it's worth the money to go away to school vs stay at home?
@-AGB-5 жыл бұрын
I’m a senior in college, I stayed at home. If you want to go away apply for all the scholarships that you can. I know some schools have housing scholarships something like the farther you live the more money you get. If you value the “typical college experience” sure go way. If you have a car thats safe and live within 30-45 mins of a good college stay at home and save some money, but make sure whatever school you choose offers the program/major you want. As for loans they suck, future you will not be happy Haha if your family will help you through college try not to use a lot of loans. I’ve had a part time job for the past 5 years of my life. I use loans but they cover like less than half of my tuition the rest my parents and I pay out of pocket. There’s a lot I could say on this . I currently owe 15 grand in student loans. I went to a community college my first two years and save a lot of money. Most college seniors are in 30-45 grand in debt. Pick a school that has your program, apply for scholarships, and if you’re currently unsure look into community college. Your first 2 years of college is a repeat of high school classes so educationally, you won’t be missing out on much.

This is great advice!! I’ll just second what you said about credit cards, the “optional” things are totally what makes it so easy to end up in debt. I’m still recovering from that personally and kicking myself because I could be in a much better place financially by now had I been more careful. 🙈

If you wanna look into a savings account I’d really recommend ally bank! They’re all online so you can just transfer your money from your primary bank but since they don’t have to pay for all the stuff normal banks do they can give higher rates so you can make more money, I keep my emergency fund there so it grows faster and since it’s with a separate bank I know I won’t touch it

Monique Hicks you enter it on line 32 of the 1040 form!
@makeupbymollyc5 жыл бұрын
Monique Hicks to be more specific, it’s considered a deduction from income so it has its own line on the first page of the 1040. It wouldn’t be itemized

Question. I'm also self-employed and need to put money away for taxes. I'm wondering if you pay quarterly taxes or if you just pay once a year?
