how does the the 20lb litter last you so long? i recently got 2 kittens, who are now 4 months old and I change out their litter ( not scoop, but throw out the old and replace it with new litter) every 10 days. That's in addition to scooping their litter boxes daily. I keep a total of 3 litter boxes for the 2 of them. Also I end up spending so much on food cuz they're on wet food ( I spend about $150 a month for a months worth of wet food for the 2 kittens).Ofcourse, I continue to spend whatever it takes to meet their needs and keep them comfortable and happy- but I was hoping there would be a way to make it more budget friendly :( P.S: I got slammed with vet bills too! So have now got lemonade insurance. There's this youtube channel called all about cats that did an extensive video on pet insurance- it helped me decide which pet insurance to go with.

We use the clumping cat litter and we we’re told to change that once a month (we also scoop the litter boxes daily). We also have two litter boxes total. When they were 4-6 months, we ended up transitioning them from wet to dry food (this helped a ton with overall costs). I would ask your vet what dry food they recommend; our cats were allergic to the first dry food we had so we switched to a special diet that the vet recommended. The special diet dry food is a lot more expensive than regular food but overall still less expensive than wet food!

@@LifeWithVinceLuu Thank you for responding. I use clumping clay litter too, so maybe ill see if i can get away with changing it every month or at least every 3 weeks. They told me to have 3 litter boxes for the 2 kittens- they said to have one more litter box than the total number of cats in the house. Yeah im thinking about slowly transitioning them to dry food once they hit 6 months too.

Adorable. You could consider the wood pellets cat litter. It cuts down odors a lot more than other types of cat litter in my opinion. Also did your vet recommend a dry food only diet for them? If so, that is odd since cats by nature eat the entire animal that they hunt. Plus I think I read that a dry only diet can lead to e.g. kidney issues. Leash training is soooo challenging but so nice when it starts to work. Thanks for the video!

Waffles was 4-6 weeks old when we got him. We ended up getting him from a friend's litter with no shots, etc. We ended up getting Olive from a shelter when she was around 4 months! If you adopt from a shelter, they'll have a lot of the shots, etc. Adopting from a shelter is definitely cheaper overall!

I cant where I live, there is a brutal fox that killed my last kitten 😭😭 but I do agree of you live out in the country, outdoor cats are a great option and they live a happy life as long as you still provide them with food and shelter :) And spay or neuter them 100% no option on that haha
